A hotel spa in the heart of Oxford

The location of The Randolph is certainly one of the many reasons it's so popular. It is perfectly situated for exploring the city on foot, looking across to the famous Ashmolean museum, it's nestled within the University of Oxford and its iconic colleges.

A historic landmark hotel

The Randolph is a five-star hotel and the design certainly offers the level of sophistication you would expect with those credentials in this historic city. The building itself is a historic landmark and part of the University of Oxford buildings. Its style reflects that heritage, with baronial features alongside plush modern furnishings. It also pays homage to the university's alumni - particularly Alice in Wonderland author Lewis Carroll and famed playwright and poet Oscar Wilde.

Luxury hotel spa style

Rooms and suites at The Randolph straddle the line between contemporary luxe and heritage style with a combination of antique furnishings, bold colour choices, velvet bedsteads and opulent wallpapers. It opts for a maximalist style complete with maximum comfort as well, all brought together to honour the property's architectural integrity.

Wellness and pampering in the heart of Oxford

Wellness at The Randolph is all about pampering. This isn't the place for lengthy workouts or marathon swims - there’s no swimming pool at any rate. Instead the emphasis is on relaxing and preparing mind and body for a delicious menu of spa treatments. There's a charming thermal suite, complete with a hydrobath, ice room, sensation shower, bio sauna, rock sauna, aroma steam room and a steam room. Then head to one of five spa treatment rooms, where therapists offer a collection of face and body therapies from Elemis. We've got our eyes on a Circadian Reset Ritual as we head towards the autumn, helping to reset that body clock and boost immunity.

Fine dining in city style

Food and drink is always a favourite feature of a hotel getaway, and The Randolph certainly delivers. The hotel has two AA Rosettes and serves up a quintessentially British menu. The dining area is a grand hall featuring opulent chandeliers; then afterwards you can sip whiskey and cocktails the Morse Bar - named for none other than fictional patron and Oxford city 'resident' Inspector Morse. Afternoon teas are also served in the pretty Drawing Room, and The Snug is their seductive, bohemian cocktail lounge, perfect for romantic evenings or late night laughter with friends.

Out and about on an Oxford spa break

While we're all for staying within the beautiful confines of the spa hotel itself, a trip to Oxford really does invite you to get out and explore. With a location like that of The Randolph it would almost be rude not to. Explore the university colleges, shop in The Covered Market or simply wander Oxford's ancient streets enjoying architectural inspiration. Popular places to visit include the Jam Factory for music and contemporary art or even a life drawing class; the dreamy, 140 year old bookshop, Blackwell’s of Oxford; or shopping in enchanting boutiques like Scriptum Fine Stationery on the 600-year-old Turl Street.
