Monaco is a playground for the rich and famous, renowned for its princesses and excesses, with Monte-Carlo, the centrepiece of the Riviera Principality. The Hotel Metropole, situated just a few steps from Monte-Carlo’s legendary Grand Casino, has undergone a complete refurbishment and re-opened its doors at the end of July 2004 as the hottest hotel address in town.

The privately owned Hotel Metropole first welcomed guests in 1886 and quickly became synonymous with the ultimate glamour of Monte-Carlo. Among its many well-known clientele, the five-star hotel has hosted Claudia Schiffer and Sting, who epitomise the hotel’s sophistication and prevailing chic. When the property re-opened, incomparable comfort, together with state-of-the art amenities and service unparalleled even by Monte-Carlo standards, ensured that the hotel once again took centre stage.

Both the interiors and exterior have been re-designed by Jacques Garcia; famed for his work in the Hotel Costes in Paris and the Hotel La Reserve in Geneva. Whilst the exterior of the property and its overall ambience remains classic in style, Garcia has added a modern twist, ensuring that Hotel Metropole is now set apart from the other Casino Square properties.

The fitness centre now features the most modern gym equipment and for those seeking total relaxation, a luxurious spa by ESPA, opened in spring 2006, provide a haven of tranquillity with many blissful signature treatments available in its 10 treatments rooms including 2 VIP Suites. In addition, the spa also offers a ‘heat experience’ with saunas and steam baths.

Hotel & Accommodation

Each bedroom is finished to the highest specification and is rich in textures. Cool colours come together with the finest natural materials including solid wood and smooth slate to offer stunning bathrooms. All bedrooms are designed to equally suit the needs of leisure and business travellers – each has Internet access, interactive television, plenty of storage space for shopping, safe deposit boxes, mini bars and 24-hour room service.

The majority of the 141 bedrooms have undergone complete refurbishment whilst others have been subtly refined with touches that create a fresh new look. The suites and junior suites are fast becoming sought-after retreats for those wanting space, comfort and views – some feature terraces and fabulous Mediterreanean views. The property also has a lavish Penthouse Suite, ‘Suite Carré d’or’ (Golden Square), with one bedroom but two optional, one bathroom and a huge private terrace offering unsurpassed sea views, the Côte d’Azur and Casino Square.
