Accessible Spa
Parking is immediately outside the entrance to the hotel and spa; the spa in one the ground floor and is accessible throughout, including the gym, changing facilities and toilets. There is also a hoist into the pool. The hotel has lifts throughout and access to all public areas as well as disabled toilets and four accessible bedrooms on the ground floor.
Family Friendly
The venue is extremely family friendly – the pool is open to children between 9am and 6pm and there are swimming lessons available midweek. The restaurant is also flexible for little taste buds.

Having enjoyed a makeover of its own in 2012, Vital Health & Wellbeing Club at Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel now combines leisure and relaxation alongside one another. So in addition to the gym complete with Power Plate training; in a glass surround overlooking the fountain and the golf course, there is a 20-metre pool, sauna, steam room, experience shower, mud rasul and spa lounge where you can have lunch in the comfort of your dressing gown.
Before and after your treatments (think massages, facials, manicures and pedicures aplenty using Jessica, Decléor, and Bare Minerals products – and particularly, their 45-minute signature Paradise Escape treatment) in a series of eight, Asian inspired treatment rooms. There is also a relaxation area – a dark, ambient environment characterised by the sound of a small water feature, low lighting, little silver Buddhas and recliners.

Located 20 miles from Chester and Shrewsbury, Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel is extremely modern with the forested driveway providing an appealing starting point. Meanwhile rooms are elegantly appointed – they are spacious, have all the necessary amenities (iron, mini bar, in-bathroom sound system) and long French windows that open onto that aforementioned verdant view.
As the county is the home of the Shropshire Blue cheese, it is only fitting that the ingredient forms the basis of the chef’s speciality – Shropshire Cheese Beignet, while other dishes use locally sourced ingredients, all served in Borders restaurant and the adjoining conservatory, while a bar area is open for informal drinks as well.
