There are two main reasons for coming to The Oxford Belfry. One is to escape from it all. The other is to be close to it all. Now that may sound like a contradiction, but let us explain. The Oxford Belfry sits just south of Oxford, near the picturesque market town of Thame, amidst 17 glorious acres of countryside. The Chiltern Hills are on the doorstep, the pace of life is leisurely and the peace is some of the most peaceful we’ve ever experienced. Yet just down the road, a short drive away, Oxford thrums like the tail of an enthusiastic puppy dog. On your walkies, you’ll find stunning colleges, museums, theatres, parks; the full cultural works, as well as shops, bars and restaurants.

The original building dates to the 19th century and to call it ‘charming’ is an understatement. The newer hotel buildings have been designed around two courtyards with a fabulous conservatory and terraces adding to the feel of light and space. As well as a superb leisure centre, there are two tennis courts and a croquet lawn, which double as good excuses to fill up even more in the wonderful restaurants, of which there are two, The Ryecote Restaurant and The Brasserie, each offering exceptional menus.
