It’s easy to dismiss a manicure as something purely aesthetic, proving you are the pinnacle of togetherness, juggling the rigors of daily life whilst still managing to have pristinely polished digits. However, the Angel Hands Manicure at St Pancras Renaissance Hotel turns the experience into one of utter, sleep inducing relaxation, and here therapist Nadia Croome explains why!
What does the Angel Hands manicure entail?
You start off with a gentle exfoliating scrub before the manicure itself. We then file and shape the nails, and do some cuticle work, and moisturise the hands by putting them in heated mitts with a hand mask. This is followed by a hand massage, and finishing with a polish on nails.
What makes this different to other manicures?
It’s a really luxurious alternative to a regular manicure – the exfoliation is something a bit extra and that combined with the heated mitts helps to soften and smooth the skin to let nutrients in and re-hydrate it. It also works on pigmentation such as age spots.
Why does it work?
It is purely down to the products. They are very natural, and don’t contain any parabens or sulphates; the heat helps the skin to hydrate, and the white mulberry ingredient targets age spots. It also contains Aloe Vera which is very healing.
Is there anything you recommend people do to make their manicure last?
If you are doing the washing try to wear gloves, and if you can, re-apply a coat of polish every couple of days. Therapists will also make sure that they apply polish across the tip of the nail to seal it, so when you are painting you own nails it’s an idea to do the same because that’s the first place chipping can occur.
Is there anyone who can’t have the treatment?
No, so it’s a particularly good treatment for pregnant women who can’t have some of the other things on offer.
Is there anyone you especially recommend it for?
Anybody who really wants to relax or pamper themselves. It is very good for this time of year because it’s so hydrating, and we forget to give our hands the attention they deserve! It also makes a wonderful present.
