Treatments are always a nice way to relax … particularly when they combine lots of different elements … Hotel Rafayel’s Spa Manager Andreea Marcu talks about the multi-faceted treatment that leaves you rubbed, scrubbed and seriously moisturised!
What exactly is an Exotic Coconut Ritual Wrap?
It’s a 60 minute treatment that starts with a half hour massage tailored to the client’s requirements and preferences, followed by a full body coconut scrub using powdered coconut. After that you have a milk bath where we apply a moisturising product all over the body and wrap the client in a sheet for 15 minutes to allow the skin to absorb it. After that client’s shower and it leaves your skin really soft!
Where does it come from?
It’s an Elemis treatment and is part of their exotic range, but the products are based on a traditional Balinese recipe of coconut, mungbeans, spices and lavender.
What is it supposed to do?
Overall it is designed to leave your skin feeling nourished and moisturised and guests feeling really relaxed. The coconut scrub gently exfoliates the skin and gets rid of dead or dry skin cells, while the milk aims to improve the texture and clarity of the skin, heal and nourish it and promote skin repair and renewal.
Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?
Because of the different elements of the treatment and as guests relax they can often get cold, so we make sure the room is well heated before the treatment starts and to promote relaxation there is low lighting and music in the room as well.
Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre or post-treatment to get the most out of it?
If you have time, use the sauna and steam room before the treatment to warm the muscles and make it easier for the skin to absorb the products and for the muscles to relax.
Is there anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?
It is especially good for dry skin, and if you are suffering from eczema or psoriasis then the wrap element can soothe the skin.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?
If you have severe varicose veins, sunburn, open cuts, are pregnant or have had an operation within the past three months it is best to avoid the treatment.
