Cathy Stockwell is a Spabreaker who definitely knows her spas, but this time when she booked she got a little more than she bargained for when she won four tickets to see West End musical Mamma Mia! … We caught up with her before the show to discover where she’s going on her winning break and her top tips to other spa goers!
You seem to be quite the spa fan – how often do you manage to get away on a spa break?
I try and get away as often as I can – maybe once a quarter – minimum!
What has been your best spa experience so far and where was it?
Oooh that’s a tough one as all the spas I seem to have been to through Spabreaks.com were fab but I think the nicest overnighter was at Tortworth Court because I really liked the old house and the staff and facilities were brilliant. Also as my husband didn’t want his treatment (a man thing!) so I had two instead!!
My favourite treatment is a back neck and shoulder massage – it really hits the right spot for me as I have trouble with my back and very bad posture.
What is it about spas that you like the most?
Getting away from it all and totally relaxing – I have a busy lifestyle being a mum and working, so going to a spa is brilliant for totally getting away and also catching up with friends when they can also make it.
Is there a treatment you really want to try but haven’t had yet?
I have tried lots of treatments over the years and am always up for new ones when they come along.
With your recent booking to Bowood Hotel and Spa you won our competition to see West End musical Mamma Mia! … What made you choose to go there?
Bowood is very close to where I live and I have always wondered what it’s like as it is quite a new hotel. I have been to the grounds before but never the hotel and spa. I saw the great offer Spabreaks.com had so I decided it was now or never. It may become my regular!
Who are you going to take with you to see Mamma Mia! and what are you looking forward to the most?
I am going to take my two daughters and mother-in-law I think and it will be a great day out up in London as we will probably make the most of it and have a meal out too. London
is my home town!
What are your top tips for other spa goers?
– Don’t plan to do too much on a spa day – if you pack too much in (i.e., gym etc) you may not relax enough!!
– Arrive early and make the most of your full day (day spa visitors)
– Don’t feel embarrassed to go alone – I have done this many times and sometimes it is better as you don’t have to worry about anyone else except yourself!
