It isn’t hard to find Radisson Blu, the name really is in the title. It isn’t even just near the airport, it’s pretty much on the landing strip, making it possibly the most convenient pre or post holiday treat you could possibly find.
The hotel itself is ultra modern and even on a grey winter’s morning was filled with natural light, and thanks to the large amount of space and 31 conference rooms, convenience is most definitely a key feature that proprietors have refined with all the knowledge of a brand that operates more than 230 hotels worldwide.
The spa and leisure facilities are small but welcoming. There is a gym, which is popular amongst those who work nearby, so if you are looking to have it all to yourself then you might want to avoid early morning and lunchtime workouts! The pool on the other hand is very calm and teas are available while reclining on the loungers. The best part about the spa and beauty area however are the treatments. There may only be three treatment rooms, but goodness do these therapists know what they are doing. We particularly recommend a hot stone massage here – just 30 minutes and you will be knot free and ready to face another day.
There are three restaurant spaces open at different times of the day and all located on the same floor next to one another. The Runway Brasserie and Bar however has particularly good views of the planes taking off and arriving and is open for all meals and light bites. If ever there was a place to go and eagerly anticipate a holiday, this is it!
As we have said before, one of the key attractions of this hotel is just how convenient it is. To put it into perspective, if you are staying here before an early flight, you don’t even have to go outside to get to the airport, there is a space-age looking walkway from the hotel to check-in that traverses the airfield.
Given the size of the spa this is very much the place to come for a little pampering rather than a full day of spa time. Staff are extremely welcoming and really know what they are doing when it comes to treatments. It is ideal for well and truly taking the stress out of travelling and either topping or tailing your holiday or business trip.
– Have a hot stone massage, particularly if you have aching shoulders.
– Pop in before an early flight or at the end of a stressful work trip.
– If you are visiting with kids, dine in The Runway Brasserie, they will love watching the aeroplanes take off!
