Why it works … Aromatherapy Wrap

Adding a new dimension to aromatherapy, Imagine Spa at Orton Hall explains why a Babor aromatherapy wrap is the way to see your skin through the remaining winter months!

What exactly is an Aromatherapy Wrap?

It’s a one hour treatment which allows the client to choose an aromatherapy oil to suit their needs.  The oil is then mixed with a conditioning body pack, which is like a moisturiser and is warm when applied to the skin, almost like a mask.  That is applied to the whole body, and then the therapist wraps the client in a plastic sheet and covers them in towels and a fleece to keep them warm while the mask works.  While that is on, we offer the client a foot massage and a scalp massage.  At the end we unwrap the client and rub the products into the skin.

Where does it come from?

It’s a Babor treatment, which is a brand whose products are based on botanical ingredients.

What is it supposed to do?

It conditions the skin and in many ways the mind as well.  It leaves the skin soft and supple.  It’s also very good for detox.

Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?

We add in a foot or scalp massage depending on what the clients prefer, and we always offer unlimited amount of herbal tea to extend the detox process.

Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre or post-treatment to get the most out of it?

We advise clients not to have alcohol or caffeine afterwards, and to avoid going in the pool afterwards so that you don’t wash off all the products.

Is there anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?

It’s ideal for anyone in need of a bit of a detox, with dry skin, or if you have been drinking a lot of alcohol lately.  Mums always love it as well!

Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?

If you have any underlying medical conditions you are best to consult your doctor before coming for the treatment, or speak to a therapist.  It isn’t recommended during pregnancy.
