From romcoms to Fifty Shades, love stories are the tried and tested favourite forms of entertainment, not least of all when we know they are real (and preferably our own).
Despite our fascination with the love lives of celebrities in the pages of magazines, or fictional characters in the latest bonkbuster, when it comes to real life it seems we aren’t paying enough attention. In a recent study 40% of respondents didn’t know how their parents met, 48% didn’t know when they met, and 86% of those whose dad proposed to their mum don’t know where or how it happened.
From a personal point of view I have always relished the opportunity to hear about grandparents traversing warn torn Europe to find one another, or parents navigating the dizzying world of floral prints and shoulder pads in the 1980s (I am nosy like that). Even the tales of online dating triumphs and disasters leave groups of friends cooing and enthralled – there is just something about other people’s lives that is eternally fascinating, so why don’t we make a little more effort to preserve the best parts?
Making sure these stories are not lost in the white noise of every day life, From You To Me has designed a new book to add to their collection of journals, specifically with Love Stories in mind. A book prompting you with titles and questions, including the slightly dangerous territory of ‘Things we would like to change or do better …’, as well as space for photos and updates from your first to 25th anniversary together.
An ideal wedding present, or simply a chance to reminisce … after all, what could be more entertaining than your very own Love Story.
