What exactly is the Body Detox?
It’s a 55-minute treatment including a Mini Back Rebalance and a Hydrating Facial. It starts with a back scrub which is then removed with hot mitts and followed with a mud mask to relax the muscles while the legs or scalp are being massaged according to preference. When the mask is taken off we apply a moisturiser before asking the guest to turn over and then we apply the facial, which includes a cleanse, tone, exfoliation, and a mask suited to the client’s skin type. While the mask is on we do a neck and shoulder massage, before removing it and, again, applying a moisturiser.
Where does it come from?
It is a treatment using Thalgo products which are based on marine life. The mud mask uses ground algae petals. It is paraben free and full of vitamins and minerals!
What is it supposed to do?
It is particularly good for detox and revitalising the skin, so it’s great at this time of the year after the party season!
Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?
Afterwards guests are given a smoothie, so the treatment is cleansing inside and out!
Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre or post-treatment to get the most out of it?
Use the facilities beforehand; the sauna and steam room in particular, to open up the pores which will help the skin to absorb the products. Afterwards simply drink lots of water to help flush out the toxins.
Is there anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?
Anyone with a busy lifestyle or problematic skin – psoriasis, excess oil, and combination skin. The mask in particular is very good for healing.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?
It isn’t recommended for pregnant women, and anyone being treated for cancer will need to check with their doctor first.
