Why did you choose Harte and Garter Hotel and Spa?
We chose it because it allowed us to book a suite bedroom with for three people at no additional cost, plus we wanted to be somewhere in a central location so we could go out and explore.
What made it so good for groups of three?
The suite was huge with two twin beds, a flat screen TV, a large wardrobe and dressing table and another large pull-out bed, which was just as comfy. In another room there was another TV and dressing table unit. The spa also has more than three treatment rooms which allowed all of us to have our treatments at the same time. The Spa isn’t huge but perfect for our girly trip!
Who did you go with?
I went with two close friends that I used to work with. All of us are mummies and are in need of pampering every now and again, so we went as a present for one for her 40th birthday!
What did you do while you were there?
We explored beautiful Windsor, somewhere that the three of us hadn’t spent time before. We had a bite to eat in one of the local restaurants, walked along the river, and saw the Queen’s swans, and the boats all moored up. We took in the castle views as we wandered along the cobbled streets, and also had time to carry out a spot of shopping in some amazing boutiques. The following day we spent a few hours in the spa utilising the thermal suite which includes a hydro pool, sauna and steam room, along with a cold shower and we all had a 25 minute back massage as well.
What’s your favourite thing about Harte and Garter?
The three of us agreed that for us the highlight of the trip was sitting in the restaurant in the evening sampling some amazing cuisine (a starter of delicious pâté, pork for our main course, and an unusual cheesecake with no biscuit base for dessert). It was just out of this world, particularly when you add a few bottles of wine, first class service, and views of the castle!
What was your favourite part of the trip?
Apart from our dinner experience at the hotel, it had to be exploring what Windsor has to offer. It is a beautiful place to visit and all of us will definitely return at least to go inside the castle next time. We do always forget what beautiful places we have right on our doorstep
Top tip when booking a girly getaway?
– Ensure everyone’s requests are catered for to keep everyone happy during the weekend
– Make sure someone brings a hairdryer, someone brings the straighteners, and the third person brings the Ipod to play while you’re catching up or getting ready for a night out.
– Always get to the venue early; we were lucky to be able to check in early because the room was ready which meant we could explore the hotel on the first day and the spa the following day. Some venues allow you to use the spa facilities before check-in to really make the most of your time together.
– Try and book your treatments for the same time if the spa has enough rooms. Sometimes they have a double room which is also good fun to share, especially for first time spa goers.
Where to next?
For Three’s Company there are now thankfully lots of venues we can visit so my girls and I will be making this an annual event. I would recommend Bryn Meadows Golf Hotel and Spa in Wales, only 20 minutes from Cardiff, which currently offers Junior Suites for three and is ideal for a girly break. If you are looking for a larger girly getaway or to celebrate a special occasion, then it has to be a tribute night at Whittlebury Hall !
