A facelift that’s not a facelift, Macdonald Berystede Hotel and Spa explain the spa treatment from Carita that’s proving a celebrity favourite …
What exactly is the Carita Pro Lift Facial?
It’s a 90 minute treatment and it’s a non-surgical face lift facial. It starts with relaxation and wellbeing which is a little massage, before cleansing and toning the skin. Then we do a Renovateur treatment which is a really deep exfoliation, before using the machine which provides a deep cleanse using electric sponges. We then pop on an eye mask and do a hand and foot massage and go into the facial massage with the biological mask, neck cream and intense serum, which we massage into the skin. The main part of the treatment is the pro-lifting part using the machine. We use the serum as well that goes deep into the skin and lifts the muscles, and finally pop on the eye cream of choice and moisturise to finish.
Where does it come from?
It’s one of the most popular treatments from Carita, and is a signature part of their brand.
What is it supposed to do?
It helps to get rid of wrinkles, lift the neck area, give a clearer complexion, firm the skin, and create a longer lasting youthful look!
Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?
We recommend a course of six treatments over a three week period to get the best results, and that can be repeated a couple of times a year. A lot of clients like to have the Pro-Lift Booster Facial which is 90 minutes as well, and we also have the products that help continue the treatment at home for sale.
Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre or post-treatment to get the most out of it?
There isn’t really anything to do, but afterwards try not to apply make-up for a while and continue using the products at home. One popular product is called Genesis of Youth which is a moisturiser, eye cream and serum that works well with the treatment.
Is there anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?
It’s for mature skins and anyone who is concerned with ageing that’s already taking place and wants to have a bit of a facelift! The machine itself really concentrates on wrinkles.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment?
I wouldn’t recommend it for younger skins, it is better to go for a Carita Hydration Facial then. If you have any metal plates or pins in the treated area, are pregnant, or have any serious conditions including cancer, diabetes, epilepsy, a pacemaker, or high or low blood pressure that isn’t controlled with medication then I wouldn’t recommend it. It is also unsuitable for anyone with recent scar tissue less than six months old, who has recently had any major operations, people who suffer with severe acne, eczema and psoriasis, or who have had Botox in the last four months.
