When Spabreaks.com’s team leader, Melissa, visited La Manga Club in Spain, it didn’t take long before she realised that this is the kind of five star luxury she could get used to!
As the sun rose over the horizon we pulled up to main reception and knew La Manga Club had a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere coupled with amazing views of the golf course, and was going to be the setting for a spectacular stay.
There are two separate types of accommodation at the resort; we stayed at the Las Lomas Village in a deluxe room. It had breathtaking, panoramic views of the coastline including Cabo de palos lighthouse, the golf courses, and the undulating hills. The room had a fridge, tea-making facilities, wine glasses, bottle opener and an ice bucket – all the important things were covered then; while the bathroom was full of Gilchrist & Soames toiletries.
At 2000 square metres the spa did not fail to impress. We were welcomed by friendly staff in an incense-filled reception; there is a relaxation room with extremely comfortable loungers, and the treatments were of an extremely high standard. I had a full body massage followed by a facial in a room which was beautifully designed and spacious with a bath and electric massage bed. Afterwards I floated to the pool area to find the best view of a spa that I have ever seen from a Jacuzzi, showing off the whole skyline to let the mind drift and wander. It was fully equipped with thermal spa jets, experience showers, a hydrotherapy pool, plunge pool, steam room and saunas. For those feeling a little more active there was also a larger swimming pool for exercise, and gym area and fitness classes.
There were so many restaurants to choose from, but we favoured Luigi’s Italian restaurant and Dharma, an Indian restaurant, both of which are situated in Las Lomas Village. Dharma is the highest point in La Manga and captures the sunset perfectly. Our favourite restaurant however was La Cala, a fresh fish restaurant that served the best food while you enjoyed serene views of the beach and heard the sound of the sea.
It is only 30 minutes from Murcia Airport and the resort itself is so large that there is a complementary shuttle service to take you to different amenities. Whilst I thoroughly enjoyed my stay I would hire a car next time to visit more attractions close to the coast and explore but if you’re just looking to completely relax then this is definitely the place to go with everything provided on site. There are a few bars, a nightclub, supermarket, pharmacy and shops a short shuttle ride away near the tennis centre.
I will definitely be returning to La Manga Club as there is something for everyone. There was a mix of groups, couples and families when we visited, thanks to the sense of affordable luxury and fantastic service. The packages also include a spa treatment per day although you could choose to have them all on one day as we did, adding that extra dimension to the holiday – and a little ‘me-time’ for any mums and dads.
– Hire a car if you want to explore outside of the resort as taxis can be expensive.
– Book your spa treatments in advance to make sure you can have the ones you want.
– Upgrade to a deluxe room for better views which are definitely worth it!
