Tried and Tested: Dr Bronner Balms

Itching seems to be a defining characteristic of the winter.  That, and the total lack of incentive to get out of bed in the morning (there are days when I think that even a date with Ryan Reynolds couldn’t convince me of the positives of moving away from my duvet – I assume this is the same for you as well).

Back to the itching though, the cold and central heating have a perennial habit of causing dry skin in even the oiliest of customers, leaving us with the equally reliable search each year for a way to stop it in its tracks.

We all have our favourite go-to products for such problems, and thankfully, the good people at Dr Bronner have now extended their collection of National Organic Standards certified merchandise to include a number of balms as well … lip balms, body balms, generally soothing balms.

Known predominantly for their Magic Soaps which the family-born brand has been creating since 1948, the balms continue to follow their natural mantra, based on pure organic oils and beeswax free of petrochemically modified ingredients.

Delivered in a handy little tin that slides open and is ideally handbag (or even pocket) sized, while still carrying enough product to make it worth the space, the balms melt when you touch them so they can be applied easily whether you want to use them as a lip balm or for cracked knees, heels and elbows … or even, as we have found in the Spabreaks.com offices, on sore, cold-ridden noses.

There are five different smells you can opt for – Orange Lavender, Patchouli Lime, Baby Mild, Naked Organic, and Peppermint – which is a personal favourite.

In other news, they are also recommended for use on tattoos, helping to protect and brighten both new and old.  Always good when products can multi-task.
