I smell like dessert. My showering routine for the last week has left me lathered in a concoction of honey, lavender, walnut, sugar syrup, and more honey, and accordingly I have been going to bed at night and drifting into some sort of blissful sugar coma minus the calories.
Before you think I have been raiding the kitchen for homemade products, or have used February to royally fall off the January health wagon and wallow in puddings, this is the direct result of having discovered Baylis & Harding’s line of Fair Trade products.
Trying out the Cleansing Honey and Lavender Body Wash, the Invigorating Walnut Body Scrub, and the Nourishing Sugar Syrup and Honey Body Butter, you can begin to understand where I am coming from. Not least because where products will often list these ingredients and then promptly turn out to smell of a synthetic air freshener, these smell exactly how you want them too – delicious.
Starting with the body wash, the first thing you will notice is that it is extremely gentle; it doesn’t dry out your skin, does the job, and then leaves a rather enjoyable perfume in its wake. Following that with the body scrub, this again is supremely gentle – almost to the point where I would question it’s status as an exfoliator, so I would definitely class this as something that should be used on a regular basis rather than a last minute answer to crusty elbows before a spray tan. Finally the process is completed with the body butter, which I think has to be my favourite.
The body butter is the prime culprit leading to my newfound status as a human crème brulee; something that I had not realised I aspired to be, and am thrilled to have discovered. For some no doubt, it is far too sweet, but once applied it is subtle as well. It is light for a body butter and easily absorbed after a nice hot shower.
So there we go, all the sweet stuff and nothing nasty; what more could you ask for in a product?
