It’s National Bed Month! … Yeah, I had no idea either, but as big fans of duvets, pillows, sleep, PJs, and generally all things associated with staying in bed, we have to hand it to the good people at The Sleep Council, a month dedicated to beds seems like a good idea to us … if only it gave us liberty to actually stay there for a full four weeks. Eh well, daydreaming aside, in honour of National Bed Month we thought we would spend a little time thinking of our five favourite places to go to sleep and wake up … which one would you choose?
Bedtime story … Like something out of Jack and the Beanstalk, Chewton Glen is not only known for being one of the most luxurious spas in the UK, it is also home to a number of tree house suites (just in case the regular five star accommodation doesn’t quite do it for you). Set high amongst the trees in a secluded valley, it’s the stuff that fairytales are made of!
Bed with a view … Windsor has all the makings of an incredibly romantic weekend in its own right, but waking up in one of the cavernous, open-plan suites at Harte and Garter Hotel and Spa with a view of the castle really is the cherry on top!
Water bed … With liquid floors and wall-less rooms, the spa at The Edge is as good a place as any to nod off with visions of the turquoise sea swimming before your eyes … and beneath your feet as it happens, whether you are chilling out on a lounger or having a massage.
Bed and breakfast … If there is one thing that Spabreakers know (aside from good spa treatments) it’s a good breakfast when we see it. Yes, this is the difference between a good break and a great break, and thanks to a plethora of square crumpets, breakfast muffins, and eggs done three ways, Norton Park takes the position of front runner followed by Celtic Manor (because they really do know their waffles).
Bed appeal … Of course the main thing that we all want out of a good bed is serious, unrivalled comfort, for which reason we are completely in love with Fistral Beach Hotel and Spa. The fact that you can see the sea and the beach from said beds, is an added bonus and yet another reason to stay put under the duvet for as long as humanly possible.
Big Sleep … It turns out that Y Spa at Wyboston Lakes are as fond of sleep as we are, so their Big Sleep relaxation area (of which TV presenter, Anna Williamson , is a fan), complete with ergonomic loungers, warm ‘snuggle’ blankets, a fireplace, and a selection of books is the perfect excuse to nod off at any time of the day!
