Having written and produced music for TV, film, and other artists, this year Bart Foley and friends are doing it for themselves as they launch Irish band, Creeds Cross, and are Spabreaks.com’s first Next Big Thing! Think you know the Next Big Thing? Tell us about it @spabreaks #nextbigthing!
Where did the idea for Creeds Cross come from?
The name came from two things, the crossroad name where I was born and the fact that our music welcomes all creeds and colours. Like the lyric in The Irish Band says, “Both North and South and all in the middle, will join together for the Irish Band.”
What makes your music different to other Irish bands?
We don’t think anybody has fused traditional and rock music like this before. There have been attempts, but we think we’ve given it a new twist.
What were you doing before Creeds Cross?
Writing and producing music for film and TV as well as for other artists.
Who’s your role model?
There are so many! Musically however, I have always loved Bruce Springsteen. I love the way he just does his thing even if it’s not fashionable. Plus he always donates his time for causes he believes in.
Who would play you in a movie?
Kermit the Frog, just because he’s green. Or possibly The Hulk, but I still have a bit of growing to do first!!!
What’s your earliest music memory?
My old fella’s records; he had all the greats, Sinatra, Nat King Cole, and so many more.
What’s the biggest lesson you have learned so far?
Karma! People who gossip to you, will gossip about you.
When you’re not working on being the Next Big Thing, what do you do to relax?
Walk my lovely Border Collie and support local rugby.
We encourage everyone to do one thing each week to be kind to themselves, what are you going to do this week to #bekindtoyou?
Buy myself a couple of pints!!
