With a honed sense of intuition and a little help from Australian Flower Remedies, Lifehouse Spa and Hotel’s, Michael Barthaud, explains how Energy Healing works …
What exactly is the treatment?
In an energy healing session, the client will lie on a comfortable healing couch. Each session lasts for either 30, 60 or 90 minutes. Once the client is comfortable, with my hands supporting the back of their head, I will gently guide them in to a more peaceful and relaxed state. They are guided to deeply connect with the source of Universal Life Force energy and to set an intention, which helps to activate their own self-healing process. This part takes about five minutes or so. Following that, the session is quiet apart from soothing background music, I then use gentle, respectful touch and specific hand positions on the physical body for the duration of the treatment. At the end, there is time to discuss the clients feelings that arise during or immediately after the session, their experience and anything that I may have felt was appropriate during our time together.
Where does it come from?
In the last 23 years, I have studied many types of energy healing to a high level, practiced numerous types of meditation and learned visualisation methods too. You may be familiar with Reiki, which I have studied to teacher training or master level. I have also studied Karuna Reiki to the same level (Karuna is the Sanskrit word for compassion and is used in both Buddhism and Hinduism). This is said to be a more evolved and refined Reiki energy healing system, according to the founders. I have also studied two other energy-healing systems. I believe that all of these have the same basic principal; they each connect me to a Universal Life Force energy, which is all knowing, all loving, and is also profoundly healing. The energy I connect to passes through me and into the client, and flows to wherever it is needed. Through my own personal healing journey, I have learned additional healing techniques, which I also incorporate in the treatments offered if necessary. Life force energy has been used for healing purposes for thousands of years, this energy is referred to in China as qi (pronounced “chi”), in India as prana, in Japan as ki, and in ancient Polynesia as manna. Other cultures sometimes refer to this life force as the breath of life. For example, Traditional Chinese Medicine can be traced back over 4,500 years and has been used to keep chi, or the life force of the body, flowing freely.
What is it supposed to do?
We are all surrounded by many environmental energies that imbalance us, stress for example is a major contributor and cause of ill health. Poor diet causes imbalance as does our modern day life in busy and polluted cities with little fresh air. Most cities have minimal natural life force energy that we might find for example in the countryside, the forest or by the ocean. We are also negatively affected by difficult or traumatic situations in our daily lives, insomnia, and radiation from devices such as phones, computers, fluorescent tubes, wifi, and TV. In addition, we are very much affected by emotional or thought patterns and or belief systems that no longer serve us. All of these energies can deplete or weaken the subtle energies or aura that surrounds us and if untreated, will eventually manifest as a physical disease. I often wish I knew what was for the highest good of every person I see. However, in the very grandest scheme of things, I have no idea what is right or wrong for a client. This Life Force that flows through me knows everything about each individual and knows exactly what is required to quickly restore balance and harmony. Every single treatment is unique; energy healing can quickly and easily restore balance and harmony for the client on all levels of their being.
Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?
The room has soft, low lighting, is warm and cosy. I vaporise calming essential oils to soothe the client and relax them more and I also administer some Australian Bush Flower meditation essence at the beginning of the session to help with this initial relaxation process. Soft, relaxing music is used together with a unique and powerful set of chakra balancing disks.
Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre or post-treatment to get the most out of it?
Prior to the session avoid caffeine, alcohol, or any other stimulants. After a session, allow enough time to sit peacefully and absorb the feelings that may have arisen during the session. Following a treatment, most people report feelings of peace, calmness and a feeling of being centred and balanced, while some occasionally feel a little ‘spacey’ immediately after the session, it is important to take a little time to allow these feelings to settle, to sit quietly and absorb and integrate the healing process. At some point during the session I get an intuitive sense of the deeper cause of whatever may be causing the imbalance a person may be experiencing. I normally recommend a combination of Australian Bush Flower Remedies to really help to anchor in the many positive changes that take place during the healing session. This is an excellent support during the weeks following the treatment.
Is there anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?
I believe that almost everyone would benefit from an energy healing treatment. The majority of us all lead quite a stressful and busy lifestyle. Energy healing quickly returns us to a much more balanced and relaxed space and restores feelings of calmness and relaxation.
Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?
The therapy is well received by almost everyone. I recently treated a lady who gave birth 10 days after the session we shared. I have used healing energy for every age group, from very young children to my grandmother who was over 90 at the time. Most people enjoy the calming, balancing feeling of relaxation that accompanies every treatment. Obviously if someone is not sure, they should seek medical advice before proceeding with any form of healing session.
