In her new book, Miracles Now, Gabrielle Bernstein explains why happiness is a choice we can all make – here’s a little taster just for you!
HAPPINESS IS A CHOICE YOU MAKE
Whenever I’m asked about the greatest lesson I’ve learned, my response is: Happiness is a choice I make. It’s very easy to look for happiness outside ourselves: in a re¬lationship, a dream job, or the perfect body weight. When we chase happiness externally, we’re simply looking for God in all the wrong places. The outside search is based on false projections we place on the world. These projec¬tions build up a wall against true happiness, which lies within us. This first exercise will help you understand how nothing “out there” can save you from the conflict that resides within. You must develop a rich inner life to enjoy life altogether.
Each time we make this shift and choose happiness, we experience a miracle. Our mind shifts from fearful de¬lusions and reconnects to our truth, which is love. Cre¬ating these shifts requires a dedicated commitment to choosing love. To begin your commitment to new percep¬tions, start by paying attention to attack thoughts toward yourself and others. Whenever you notice your thoughts detour into attack mode, say out loud or to yourself: Hap-piness is a choice I make. Make this your mantra.
The more you retrain yourself to choose happiness over fear, the more blissful you will be. Repeating a new behaviour is what makes change stick. When you repeat a new pattern often, you literally change the neural pathways in your brain. This shift helps true change settle in.
Happiness is your choice. You can choose today. Now it’s time to spread the love! Tweet, Facebook, pin, Instagram, e-mail, and repeat the Miracle Message below. Pay it forward by carrying the message.

WORRY IS A PRAYER FOR CHAOS
Worry is a prayer for chaos. Unfortunately worrying can become a bad habit that takes over your thoughts and your life. Often people worry to avoid dealing with how they truly feel. This technique is about turning your worry upside down. Once again, become the nonjudg-mental witness of your fear and begin to recognize when worry has the best of you. In the moment when you recog¬nize your mind worrying, use this technique.
Simply stare at the tip of your nose.
Yup, that’s right: Look down at the tip of your nose. This simple action can shut your mind off. It’s a radical tool for disengaging worry and centring into a still mind. In any moment when worry begins to take you down, re¬direct by staring at the tip of your nose.
This Miracle Message will be very well received. So many people worry and obsess over every little issue. By simply sharing this message you can help people get out of their own way and release their need to worry.

COMPARE NO MORE
Comparing is a nasty habit. When we compare our¬selves to others we get hooked into the belief that we’re better than or less than someone else. Comparing creates animosity, resentment, jealousy, and competition. Living in this way can hurt your happiness and your sense of peace. How can you be peaceful when you’re constantly comparing yourself? It’s exhausting!
Beneath the desire to compare is a deep-rooted sense that we are not enough. When we feel an unconscious sense of lack, we project that lack onto others so we won’t feel so bad about ourselves. It’s a vicious cycle. For in¬stance, maybe you’ve been single for a while and you often compare yourself to people who are in relationships. This act of comparing sends you into a tizzy, reinforcing all that you don’t have and convincing you that attached folks are better than you. Or maybe you compare yourself to celebrities and notable figures. You always see yourself as less than and in effect you feel incomplete. Understand¬ing this pattern is the first step toward transforming it.
Once you’re aware of your comparing habit, the next step is to take action toward changing your behaviour. The moment you witness yourself comparing, pause and say (whether out loud or to yourself): “The light I see in them is a reflection of my inner light.” Even if you don’t believe this affirmation or you think it’s too New Agey, give it a shot. Each time you compare, recite the affirmation.
Choosing to perceive oneness in the moment can re¬lease you from the need to compare. In an instant, you can be set free. That is a miracle.
Practice this tool as often as possible and pay atten¬tion to your shifts. The shifts may be subtle at first, but you’ll feel relief right away. Set yourself free from the comparison cycle and be at peace with who you are.
Miracle Message: Whenever you compare yourself to others, simply say this prayer: “The light I see in them is a reflection of my inner light.” #MiraclesNow
