Whittlebury Hall are experts when it comes to pampering, just check out the thermal suite!  Here however, Emma Tofield, an ESPA Specialist and Whittlebury therapist, talks about a facial that’s perfect for men after a day on the golf course!

What exactly is the treatment?

The treatment starts with a personal consultation followed by a facial cleanse. A skin vision lamp is then used to analyse the skin which will show the exact skin type and condition. Next, the exfoliation will refine and brighten the skin before a deep cleanse.  After each cleanse the product is removed with a soothing hot towel. The massage includes the décolleté, shoulders, neck and face, followed by pressure points and lymphatic drainage.  A dual action mask is applied to the face and neck to deeply cleanse and purify the skin. Whilst this is working, a deeply relaxing scalp massager is performed. The mask is again removed with a hot towel before a facial spritz, and eye and facial moisturisers are applied.

Where does it come from?

ESPA is a British, family run company that use only the very purest extracts for instant, lasting results. The aim is to pull together and integrate the more traditional prevention treatments with the world of luxury – to dazzle the senses and de-stress body and mind.

What is it supposed to do?

Deep cleanse the skin, remove dry dead skin cells, and be deeply relaxing.

Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?

By using hot towels in the treatment this is designed to stimulate the blood circulation and relax pores, enabling products to work deeper into the skin.  The massage meanwhile, is designed to eleviate tension and drain unwanted toxins from under  the surface of the skin.  The products used a specifically designs for a gentleman’s skin.

Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre or post-treatment to get the most out of it?

Ideally the skin needs to be accessible so a clean shave is always recommended so we can treat the skin.  Continuing the use of ESPA products will help optimise the results of the facial.

Is there anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?

The facial is designed for men of any skin type looking for a deep cleanse, healthy glow, or rehydration.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?

Contraindications could be any specific allergies or serious medical conditions.
