How to look after your skin is always an extremely personal issue whether you’re 15 or 50, but if there is anyone who knows what’s best it’s a spa therapist.  We asked the experts for their insider recommendations for treatments, products, and top skincare tips for mature skin!

Leeann Leenox, Spa Manager at Armathwaite Hall Country House and Spa

Recommended Treatment: Themae Original Beauty Facial

An anti ageing treatment designed to combat wrinkles and loss of elasticity, and reduce the appearance of pigmentation, after a deep cleanse including a peel to encourage cell renewal, you will enjoy a fatigue-removal face massage followed by a collagen mask and kneading acupuncture movements alongside a massage for the arms and legs.  Anti ageing techniques include traditional Japanese and Thai tools such as (Ridokis and Nouat-Na) to stimulate circulation and firm the skin.

Recommended Product: Comfort Zone Chrono Reverser Gel

The gel leads to visible improvement of wrinkles, dyschromia and fine scars, improved smoothness and skin radiance, activation of cellular regeneration and deep hydration and protection against oxidative damage.

Top Tip:  Moisturise daily with a tea plant based cream. The tea plant has over 30% of polyphenols (one of the highest levels of antioxidant concentration known) and contains antioxidants 200 times more potent than Vitamin E. The effect of the antioxidants in two cups of tea is the equivalent of seven glasses of orange juice. Thus tea actively contributes to slowing the skin’s signs of aging by neutralising the free radicals that break down collagen and elastin. Try the Ceremonie Anti-Age Moisturiser by Themae.

Debbie Dobson, Spa Manager at DeVere Hotels

Recommended Treatment: ESPA Lift and Firm Facial

It uses tri-active ingredients combined with specialised facial massage lifting techniques to help combat the signs of ageing, stimulate collagen production, and deliver intense results, the benefits of which can be seen immediately.

Recommended Product: ESPA Regenerating Face Treatment Oil

A rejuvenating facial oil to help stimulate cell renewal, tone and firm. It helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and ease the signs of ageing, resulting in softer, smoother skin.

Top Tip: Apply facial creams and products twice daily – morning and evening.  Firmly work from the décolleté up towards the top of the face to lift and stimulate mature skin. Also, always wear make-up with an SPF.

Steph Fox, Spa Therapist at The Mere Golf Resort and Spa

Treatment: Carita Cinetic Lift Expert

Using luminotherapy and ultrasonic micro-massage, the treatment brightens the complexion, smoothes the eye area, and lifts the skin. LED and ultrasound boosts the micro circulation and brings oxygen to the surface of the skin which slows the ageing process. Like most facials it starts with a cleanse, tone, and exfoliate. The Carita Expert will then categorise your skin age not your chronological age, and a mask is applied to suit you.  A neck, décolleté, and facial massage follows, along with anti puffiness eye patches, a hand and arm massage and a leg and foot massage. The micro currents and the LED lights are then used, topped with a serum, eye cream, and moisturiser to finish.

Recommended Product: Genesis of Youth Serum

Carita has created the exclusive CINETIC technonolgy designed to help the skin reactive the energy flows responsible for cell dialogue. The skin appears visibly transformed, wrinkles are smoothed, pores are refined, and the skin is more even and illuminated from within.  It also has a lifting effect, thanks to the stretchactiv complex acting on the skin’s natural elasticity.

Top Tip: Know your skin type and be confident in what you are using on it before you buy.  The skin around the eyes is amongst the first areas where ageing shows, so always use an eye gel around the top of the eye lid and below the eye. Try to get at least eight hours sleep per night, and always take your eye makeup off before sleeping.

Amy Nelson, Spa Manager at Grosvenor Pulford

Recommended Treatment: The new Elemis Pro Intense facial which is specifically tailored for the over 50s and also includes a product range for after care.

Recommended Product: Pro-Intense Lift Effect

This is the newest addition to the Elemis Pro Intense range and contains a bio-complex of high-tech nature and plant stem cells which help to improve the skins elasticity and firmness levels.

Top Tip: Eat right, drink right. Good nutrition helps the body to repair the skin. Drinking lots of water helps hydrate skin from the inside out as well.
