When we visited The Europe Hotel and Resort it was like coming home to the mother ship of all spas. Really, if there was such a thing, this is what it would look like. In addition to the ultra modern hotel, the spa itself was purpose built by ESPA with a location perfectly chosen for optimum relaxation. Yes Spabreakers, we had arrived.
In every respect the hotel is five star. In County Kerry, and positioned perfectly to enjoy the dramatically changing skyline that adds further atmosphere to the views of lakes and mountains, the hotel is ultra modern, chic, spacious, and yet still remarkably welcoming. If it wasn’t for so many other beautiful elements you would indeed want to spend an abundance of time in your room.
This is really the jewel in The Europe’s crown. It was created by leading product house, ESPA, so the pedigree was pretty good from the outset. The design however is exactly what you are looking for in a modern spa – an abundance of facilities and all gloriously, stylishly designed. Facilities include a fitness studio complete with Power Plates and a Kinesis wall, an indoor infinity pool, indoor/outdoor vitality pool, and a complete thermal suite featuring a salt water pool, lifestyle showers, an ice fountain, sauna, steam room, and relaxation areas. There are also 16 treatment rooms (so yes, you can take your entire group of friends and all be pummelled into blissful oblivion at the same time), and therapists combine the best of European and Eastern practice to deliver a cavalcade of treatments and therapies.
All the food was glorious, from the light lunches in the bistro to the formal dining in the main restaurant. As a total breakfast person however, it was the start of the day which had us rolling away from the table in a self-inflicted food coma. There was a phenomenal selection of cooked and continental fare which was quite impossible to resist. Coupled with a good view, my recommendation would be to head over early with a newspaper, good book, or really good company, and settle in for the morning!
Looking out onto Lough Lein Lake and the McGillycuddy Reeks Mountain, the landscape surrounding The Europe is really unlike anywhere else. Whether the sky is black and moody or showing the early morning signs of a blissfully sunny day it is a mesmerising picture as well as something worth exploring if you are here for a couple of days. The hotel is well known for its golf course, which makes up much of the surrounding grounds.
There is every reason to recommend a visit to The Europe Hotel and Resort. Whether it’s a romantic weekend away, a group visit with friends for a hen party or special occasion, or even a trip with the family. There is oodles of space, much to do, and no stone is left unturned when it comes to standards. Equally however, if you live nearby, a day in the spa will make you feel like you have been on holiday for a week.
Definitely leave lots of time to enjoy the spa facilities, it would be a waste not to.
Spend some time simply enjoying the scenery – if you can’t find peace of mind here then you never will!
Leave lots of time to really enjoy breakfast!
