Using the Aromatherapy Associates product line, Lough Eske Castle takes aromatherapy to a whole new level …

What exactly is the The Real Aromatherapy Experience?

The Real Aromatherapy Experience lasts for 90 minute   .It works from top to toe; it is a complete body and mind treatment. The aromatherapy massage begins with a thorough consultation to choose which one of the 13 expertly blended oils will balance your physical and emotional needs. Once your consultation is complete you are positioned comfortably on our luxurious therapy beds. The treatment begins with hot compresses placed on the feet, this is deeply relaxing and soothing to the body. It is also extra nice during the winter when we all suffer with cold feet. Before the massage begins our therapists do inhalations with the client using pure essential lavender oil to help switch off the mind. The main chakras of the body are then balanced. Using your chosen oil your therapist will use carefully applied pressures to stimulate the nervous system, Swedish and neuromuscular techniques to relieve muscular tension, and lymph drainage to encourage healthy circulation. This treatment releases tension held in every part of your body leaving you feeling deeply relaxed and recharged.

Where does it come from?

It is performed using the Aromatherapy Associates body oils. Aromatherapy Associates is passionately committed to producing natural essential oil based products, without compromising on quality, safety, and efficacy.  Aromatherapy Associates wisdom spans over 30 years and they use this knowledge to develop the purest products- products that allow the essential oils within them to work most effectively for immediate and far reaching results, for the client’s complete wellbeing.

What is it supposed to do?

Traditional aromatherapy body massage uses specific techniques to help rebalance body, mind and spirit. It was pioneered in France by Marguerite Maury and brought to England in the 1960’s. Our massage is a powerful and effective fusion of Eastern and Western massage styles and work on the following key areas: chakras (centres of subtle energy located throughout the body); spinal pressures (traditional aromatherapy body massage differs from traditional Swedish massage in that it works primarily through the pathways of the Autonomic Nervous System); muscle release (pain and discomfort caused by physical tension is one of the main reasons clients seek massage).

Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?

The Real Aromatherapy Experience is completely tailored to the specific needs of the clients. The oil is chosen by the client as the body is naturally drawn to the scent of the oil that it needs the most. The therapist chooses two/three oils that would suit the client and then allows the client to smell these oils to choose which one will be used for the treatment. Each massage is unique to the client.

Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre or post-treatment to get the most out of it?

Prior to the treatment we would recommend use of the thermal suite in our spa as the heat from the sauna/steam rooms will allow the muscles to soften and prepare the body for the treatment. Post treatment we recommend you drink plenty of water and take time to rest. Regular massage is also very important to maintain good muscular flexibility and for wellbeing. Leaving the oils on your skin is advised as the oils will continue to work after the treatment. Using the Aromatherapy Associates products at home in between your treatments will make a huge difference too, this is also highly recommended as it will aid with any issues you may have between treatments.

There anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?

Because the treatment works on many levels, it is suitable for a wide range of clients and their needs. It can be recommended for stress sleep problems and fatigue, menstrual problems, menopause, digestive problems, sluggish blood and lymphatic circulation, emotional imbalance - shock, grief, depression, inability to relax, an overactive mind, headaches, migraines, muscular aches, pain and tension, a weak immune system, generally congested system, and jet lag.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?

As with every treatment there are some contraindications. It is always advised to mention any medical conditions, recent illness and/ or recent surgery at the time of booking your treatments. All our staff are highly trained and will be able to advise each individual regarding contraindications.  Clients with existing medical conditions can usually be treated with care; a doctor’s permission may be sought.
