On romantic mini break, Spabreaks.com’s Product Executive, Danielle Deer, and her boyfriend Alan explain what they liked most about Spa6 in the Cotswolds…
What did you like most about the hotel?
She says: There are too many things too love! The hotel is located on the lake so the views are stunning! I guess the main thing I love is the atmosphere and the sense of being away on holiday. It’s modern but cosy with a hotel bar and restaurant as well as a separate pub on site ‘ The Old Boathouse’ which really adds to that feeling. I like that it has a little bit of something for everyone!
He Says: The view!
What did you think of the spa?
She says: I love the spa! The swimming pool, sauna, steam room, ice fountain, drench shower, heated beds and changing rooms are all on the ground floor near the reception where you are given your robes, towels and slippers for the day. The first floor is where you will find the gym, and seven single treatment rooms, two dual treatment rooms, a manicure and pedicure area, a relaxation room, mud rasul and dry floatation as well as a beautifully lit Champagne bar.
He says: Peaceful. The soft lighting really helped create that sense of relaxation and tranquillity. They also had a really good massages, it is my favourite treatment but it is rare that the therapist gets it exactly how I like it and she was great!
What’s the restaurant like?
She says: It was really light and airy with a main restaurant and adjoining conservatory which also leads out to seating overlooking the lake. The food quality is perfection, there is plenty to choose from and I would personally recommend the haddock and chive fishcake – yum yum yum!
He says: The restaurant itself is informal but the food and the service were excellent. The best steak I have had! The food was cooked to perfection and my crème brulee was ‘flaming’ nice.
What else is there to do?
She says: The town of Cirencester is only a 10-minute drive away from the hotel. It is really cute and quirky with lovely little country pubs, ‘real locals’; it is definitely well worth a little stroll! If you are not wanting to leave the hotel however, then you’re in luck! Being located on a lake certainly has it’s perks! There are loads of watersports to enjoy including windsurfing, sailing, kayaking, wakeboarding, and inflatable rides, or if that is a little to active for you, why not take a stroll, cycle or jog around the water!
He says: The nearby town of Cirencester is lovely and nice for a stroll and to get the real sense of the Cotswolds, but when you are worn out from spa-ing, walking and watersports the on-site Old Boathouse pub is the place to unwind!
Who would you recommend it for?
She says: I really think it has a little something for everyone. It is perfect for groups – offering spa parties with private use of the spa and champagne. It is perfect for couples – offering the element of relaxation, and perfect for families thanks to family rooms and dedicated children’s swimming times and lots of activities! (children’s times 07.00 – 10.00 and 15.00 – 18.00 weekdays 08.00 – 10.00weekends).
He says: Couples with a passion for spa-ing and adventure.
