British designer and founder of Goat Fashion, Jane Lewis, explains why cashmere is essential…
What’s your average day like?
I don’t have an average day, every day is different. There are always lots meetings in the office – design meetings, fit meetings, website meetings, castings, photoshoots, editing, research, as well as PR meetings and breakfasts with journalists. I do however take my children to school every day, that is one consistent part of the day!
What did you do before Goat Fashion?
I did an internship at Spink. I worked for a private art collector and then I worked for Elsbeth Gibson as her assistant.
What makes Goat different?
Goat is a label that makes timeless, modern classics. It has a very strong handwriting. Every piece is well edited, not designed for design’s sake.
Do you have a role model?
I don’t have one role model, I am constantly inspired by friends who work in a variety of industries and work extremely hard making their mark on the world. My family also inspire me every day.
What’s your clothing must have for this autumn?
A cashmere piece is a must. Plus the Redgrave half and half coat, it has a beautiful sharp silhouette.
What’s your idea of the perfect day of relaxation?
I would have reflexology and a massage and then I would go somewhere quiet to read my book.
When do you feel at your happiest?
In the morning when my children run into my bedroom. I miss them when they are asleep.
