Five reasons to visit Thainstone House Hotel

It was tough to narrow it down to just five, but after a visit to Crerar Thainstone House, Emmanuel Emelogu and his family explain why they loved it so much…

1. The spectacular building in a tranquil environment.

1 crerar environment

The hotel is gorgeous and the surrounding environment is serene and peaceful, giving the impression that you are well into the countryside even though it took us (my wife, two boys and myself) less than 40 minutes to drive there from Aberdeen. We took the opportunity to have a long walk on the first evening and enjoyed the tranquil scenery, the beautiful flowers and the green surroundings. There is seating outside where one can relax and enjoy the outdoors but the weather was a bit cold by the time we were there so we didn’t stay out for long.

2. The friendly staff and spacious room.

On arrival we were welcomed and greeted by an extremely friendly receptionist. She explained everything we needed to know and was very nice to our two boys. She didn’t need to, since the rooms were easily accessible, but she helped us with our luggage and took us upstairs to our room, which was delightful, spacious and extremely clean. Importantly for us, the Wifi was also working perfectly.

3. Good Food.

The service provided in the restaurant, The Green Lady, was exceptional. Most of the tables were set close to the massive windows overlooking the beautiful surroundings so we could see squirrels from the window and hear the birds chirping; it was absolutely magical for the boys. The food was lovely, a six-course meal where each course was just the right size and we were appropriately full by the time we got to the dessert. The chef even offered to prepare a different meal when one of the boys didn’t seem to be enjoying his. Breakfast was another experience on its own. Also served in The Green Lady, it included a variety of both continental and Scottish options. We opted for the full Scottish and boy was it was freshly made, tasty and beautifully presented!

4. The spa treatment.

This was our first time having a proper spa treatment so neither of us knew what to expect. I was a particularly apprehensive, but thanks to the therapist, who was very polite and professional, I soon relaxed. She took her time to explain the treatment and the benefits of each variation. Since we took turns to look after the boys while the other was having the spa treatment, my wife had hers first and her full back and neck massage was so relaxing and soothing and she almost fell asleep and wished it lasted forever. My facial massage really helped to overcome my anxiety, I immediately keyed in to it and enjoyed it completely.

5. The range of facilities.

The swimming pool, Jacuzzi and of course the gym were amongst the facilities that we couldn’t take advantage of because we weren’t prepared, since we didn’t go with our swimming gear and other necessary accessories. So I would strongly recommend that if you and family are planning to stay at the Thainstone House Hotel, make adequate preparations!
