I’m sitting in my kitchen in LA, waiting for the sunrise and wishing that my dog (Rhino) didn’t snore quite so loudly!
Launching my first brand; Leighton Denny Expert Nails back in 2005 was a life-long dream. Since then I’ve gone on to launch my debut fragrance Light & Dark, Sun Believable Expert Tan and release my number one selling autobiography ‘How I Nailed It’. They’ve all been such incredible experiences and I continue to enjoy working on them, as well as embarking on new ventures. My Dad always said; find a job you enjoy and you will never work a day of your life – he was right!
I don’t think anything particularly strange has happened in my career. The most surreal thing to happen though was receiving my MBE. I found out on the morning of my 40th birthday – it was the best present I could have wished for and so unexpected.
There are far too many to mention them all, but a few would include; working on the Spice Girls Tour and with Adele and Rhianna at The Brit Awards, winning Nail Tech of the Year 2000/01/02/03 and being placed in the Beauty Hall Of Fame in 2004. Most recently the best experience would be going to Buckingham Palace to receive my MBE from The Princess Royal. It was a fantastic day from start to finish and to have my hard work and success acknowledged by the Queen is such an honour and an amazing achievement.
Every day – because every day I wake up and I’m still doing what I love and what makes me happy.
I find that the people I tend to admire most are the people who work for what they love.
Reflexology, massage and facials are my go tos. I’ve also recently discovered Vortex Healing and am finding it very balancing and great for boosting energy levels.
Anything and everything – creativity has no boundaries.
I couldn’t pick just one treatment – I love the whole spa experience.
I have a smoothie every morning. They’re full of fruit and veg and jam packed with vitamins and nutrients. The perfect way to start the day, they also mean I feel less guilty about any treats I have later on!
