I am running London marathon because I love running! I got into running seriously a couple of years a go after a car accident left me unable to do any exercise other than run or cycle. As time progressed so did my fitness and my love for running. I like to challenge myself and after a couple of half marathons thought I would put myself to the ultimate test.
I am running for Aspire who support people with spinal injury. Having grown up with a mum who was wheelchair-bound in the later years of her life, so it’s a subject that’s very close to my heart.
I was running regularly before Christmas, then after New Year I started following a strict programme, running four times a week with one long run at weekends. I have also stopped drinking alcohol during my training.
I have loved the training apart from the 22-miler I had to do when I was already feeling ill and had to then face terrible weather conditions. I’m already thinking about doing another one!
I am looking forward to making my family and friends proud on the day and of course the feeling when I cross that finish line.
I am most looking forward a glass of wine afterwards, my first of 2015! I am also looking forward to being able to wear heels again as I suffered a torn calf muscle during training so they have been banned by my osteopath!
I would most love to have a full body massage after the marathon; it’s my favourite treatment!
