Following her worldly wisdom on using food to feel wonderful on Friday, Victoria Robertson aka Flirting with Fennel, shares her recipe for the ultimate healthy breakfast…

green tropical smotohie

Ingredients

  • ½ an avocado
  • Handful of spinach
  • Handful of frozen mango
  • Handful of frozen pineapple
  • ½ an apple
  • Almond milk
  • One tbs raw local honey
  • One tsp bee pollen
  • One tbs goji berries
  • Handful of mixed berries
  • 1/3 cup raw buckwheat groats (or sugar-free homemade granola)

Method

  • Using a high-speed blender, combine the avocado, spinach, mango, pineapple, apple and almond milk to make a thick green smoothie.
  • Spoon the green smoothie into a bowl and top with honey, bee pollen, goji berries, mixed fresh berries and raw buckwheat groats.
  • Enjoy!

Health benefits

  • 100% raw
  • 100% plant-based
  • High in fibre
  • Dairy-free, gluten-free, sugar-free, grain-free (buckwheat groats are seeds!) and preservative-free
  • Contains five fruit and vegetables, including a portion of leafy greens
  • Contains good fat in the form of avocado, helping to stabilise blood sugar levels and leave you fuller for longer
  • Contains two superfoods; goji berries and bee pollen
  • Contains raw local honey, which is thought to support natural immunity in your local surroundings thus providing support to those suffering from hay-fever, asthma and allergies.
