Summer time is all about bright colours, pretty florals, summer dresses and sunshine, so there’s no reason you can’t use bright pop colours in your make-up as well. This month I am going to show the perfect holiday look; bright eyes and glossy lips with a sun kissed glow.
In the summertime I don’t like to wear too much foundation so I keeping it light. After I have moisturised my skin I apply MAC Studio Fix to my foundation brush and apply to my face. This is a great foundation for the evening as it has great coverage and a dewy glow. For my skin tone I would usually use colour NW20, however with a tan I mix in a little bit of NW30. Always make sure than when you apply your foundation is matches the colour of your neck. So if you are wearing fake tan make sure to wear a foundation that matches the tan colour.
I nearly always use Bourjois Sun Shimmer for my bronzer. It gives you a very natural colour and glow. Apply on and under your cheekbones, applying from the outside of the face in. I also apply a small amount to the temple area of my forehead. This creates a small amount of contouring. If you feel like you’ve added too much, pick up your foundation brush and blend into the face.
I have just got a new eyebrow pencil from Maybelline. The colour is perfect for my hair colour however the pencil is a little soft and so you may need to sharpen it twice when using. It is so important to have a sharp top on the pencil to create clean lines.
There are so many exciting colour palettes out there at the moment with fabulous pop colours. Be careful when choosing the colour to wear though, many of these colours might not suit you. Yellows wash me out a little as my skin is fair. Blues and greens tend to suit me a lot better and compliment my eyes. However for this look I am going to use purple. Purple works well for the evening and tends to suit most skin tones.
I am using Makeup Revolutions pallet called Redemption. Don’t hold back on the amount you apply, this is a fun look and you can go as dramatic as you feel! Starting from the eyelid I apply with my big eyeshadow brush. I then work into the crease of the eyelid. I am also going to go a shade darker on the outside of my eyelid and into the crease to create a smokey look.
Keep to black eyeliner for this look. Think Twiggy’s ‘60s look; the bolder the better. I am using a liquid eyeliner. Nearly every brand has one now, I personally like L’Oreal’s. It has a sharp point making it easy to control. Apply from the outside in, then create your flick after.
Pink lips work really well with purple eyeshadow. I love bright pinks this summer. So I am using Maybelline’s long stay Peach Cocktail.
I like to choose my blusher colour after I have applied my lipstick. This way I can pick the colour which complaints the whole look perfectly. I’m going to stick with the pinks and use MAC Dollymix.
Now you’re ready for your summer evening of fun! This is a great look when you are on holiday and feeling a bit braver.
P.S: I always have a can of Sally Hansen spray on tan with me on holiday. It advertises itself for legs but I use it all over my body in the evenings. It covers blemishes and gives your skin a photoshop makeover! It also washes off easily at the end of a night out.
