Wish You Were Here is total easy reading chick-lit – exactly what I love. I think it’s fair to say that this is a book that’s aimed at women, and probably more towards those in their 40s as the main character Flora is older than the usual leading ladies (hurrah!). It made me smile as I can definitely imagine my mum reading it and relating to the family drama that unfolds.
It all starts on a plane where Flora’s husband James saves a child’s life after a allergic reaction to nuts – standard RyanAir travel surely? It turns out the mother of the child is famous and as a thank you invites them for the holiday of a lifetime at her house in France.
Then the family descends – the kids with there boyfriends, the mother and ex boyfriends all on this holiday so as you can imagine secrets and feelings abound! It’s a great story of family life and dynamics… and it really made me want to hop on a plane to France… want to join me?!
