When I visited the InterContinental Dublin in the leafy area of Ballbridge, I was 15 weeks pregnant and still hadn’t completely shaken off the tiredness or nausea that comes with the first trimester so I was really looking forward to a relaxing treatment and I wasn’t disappointed.
The spa itself was so tranquil and quiet you would never know it was so close to the city centre. The staff were really welcoming and prepared a freshly squeezed juice for me while I changed into my robe and got ready for my 60-minute treatment in the relaxation area.
I should point out now that all the facilities are beautiful. The shower and sauna areas in particular are stunning and it was a treat just to be there, even without the treatment. When it came to it though, my therapist was equally wonderful.
She asked how I was feeling, what benefits I would like most from the massage and then explained how the treatment worked. The massage itself was so relaxing particularly as the gorgeous ESPA products were all pregnancy friendly. As part of the treatment I had a hair conditioning mask which left my hair really soft and shiny. I felt really wonderful afterwards, so relaxed and definitely more energised too!
I was free to use all the facilities after the treatment so after a dip in the pool and a long shower I stepped back outside feeling like a new woman. I will definitely be going back to the spa at the InterContinental both during my pregnancy and afterwards, it was a great experience.
