Dressing up for Halloween is so much fun! However sometimes it’s great to dress up and still look sexy for your night out. I am going to show you how to achieve a look which is both spooky and sexy, perfect with a little black dress!
With summer now long gone the cold weather is hitting my skin hard. I am using Nivea for dry and damaged skin to keep my face moisturised. This is also an all over body cream, so it’s great for your skin from head to toe! Make sure you moisturise your face at least half an hour before you apply foundation.
Today I’m using a new foundation which I have come across in Superdrug. ‘B. Youthful’ Anti-Ageing Foundation in colour Honey 40. I’ve chosen the anti-ageing foundation as my skin is a little dry at the moment and it feels more moisturising than a matte foundation. Using a foundation brush apply all over your face and blend in until you are happy with the finish.
For this look I want high cheekbones, I apply my bronzer under my cheekbones and to the top line of my forehead. I am using Rimmel Natural Bronzing Powder – Sun Glow 25. For my blusher I am using colour Dolly Mix from MAC blush range. This is a sheer and lightweight powder however the colour is great for evening wear.
The great thing about a smokey eye is it’s hard to mess it up. If you do not feel confident just keep blending. I’m going to use a large eyeshadow brush for this. Apply black eyeshadow all over your eyelid, into the crease and above. Don’t go up to the brow line, you will want to leave a little gap here. Using the same eye shadow, softly line the bottom of the eye.
Eyeliner is key in this look. Using a black Kohl Pencil line the inner lids both upper and lower. Using a liquid black eyeliner, line the outer upper lid. As it’s Halloween I have chosen to add a little drama to this look by drawing on some spider like eyelashes from the side of each eye using my liquid eyeliner. Again, there are no rules with this and it doesn’t have to be too neat to create this dramatic look.
With a smokey eye, it is better to define a strong eyebrow to frame the eyes. I am using a Rimmel eyebrow pencil. Make sure your pencil is sharp so you can create clean lines.
I want to highlight my face in some areas – as shown in last months ‘baking‘ blog post. This time however I am gently going to brush on MAC Mineralise Skin Finish in Light with a powder brush. I apply to the middle/lower forehead, the centre of my nose, under the eyes, and on my jaw line. This will create a flawless skin finish for your look.
As it’s Halloween a little blood red seems appropriate! I am using MAC lip liner in Cherry and MAC lipstick in Hot Tahiti.
