As summer appears on the horizon we could all do with shaking off the dregs of winter and feel happy and healthy, so here’s Spabreaks.com’s top recommendations for health spas to visit before those long-awaited summer holidays!

Foxhills

Foxhills, Surrey

A five-star family friendly hotel with oodles of facilities in Surrey, Foxhills does everything to perfection including detox and relaxation, particularly as they have a yoga retreat spa day up for grabs that includes two yoga sessions, a bespoke treatment and a trim trail walk to get you outside – we highly recommend the body scrub for feeling totally invigorated.

VISIT FOXHILLS

Grayshott

Grayshott Health Spa, Surrey

There’s never a bad time to go to Grayshott, it’s the king of health spas in the UK thanks to a wealth of knowledge at its disposal from expert therapists, nutritionists and everything in between.  Go for a Classic Grayshott Experience and you will always come away feeling tip top.

VISIT GRAYSHOTT HEALTH SPA

Henlow grange

Champneys Henlow Grange, Bedfordshire

Surrounded by 150 acres of peaceful parkland, Champneys Henlow Grange is one in the collection of famed spas, known for their expert knowledge on all things wellbeing, not to mention their celebrity appeal.  From the treatments to the food it’s all a treat for mind, body and soul… and you can spend the whole day in your robe and slipp, including lunchtime – now THAT’S the mark of a wonderful spa experience.

VISIT CHAMPNEYS HENLOW GRANGE

Champneys Tring

Champneys Tring, Hertfordshire

Another in the Champneys collection, Champneys Tring is a beautiful red brick building where they rarely serve alcohol and diet is all part of the experience.  Complementary lifestyle and exercise classes are included in your visit, and wander around the grounds is highly recommended.  Their wax body treatment in particular is a total life changer!

VISIT CHAMPNEYS TRING

Ockenden

Ockenden Manor, West Sussex

A historic hotel with an ultra modern spa, the beauty of Ockenden Manor is that it has the health spa element as well as the luxurious hotel with a Michelin Star restaurant so it pretty much covers all bases.  The spa has an eco vibe and uses the highly acclaimed REN and ila spa products – feel good factor on all levels!

VISIT OCKENDEN MANOR

Bailiffscourt

Bailiffscourt Hotel and Spa, West Sussex

As the sister hotel to Ockenden Manor, the ethos and vibe here are similar.  In 30 acres of parkland, it has its own moat, so the scene is set for serious chill out time.  In a barn style building, the spa is within the hotel grounds and uses Temple Spa products, which, if you haven’t tried them are quite literally good enough to eat (we tried a yoghurt and honey body wrap once that was precisely that).  Go for a walk, have a treatment, and even take the dog if you fancy it!

VISIT BAILIFFSCOURT HOTEL AND SPA

Lifehouse

Lifehouse Spa and Hotel, Essex

It feels a world away from anywhere in the heart of Essex countryside, and Lifehouse Spa and Hotel really has everything you could want from an unpretentious health spa experience.  Much of the food is grown on site and all spa packages are overseen by the resident naturopath, so it’s all tailored with precision and care.

VISIT LIFEHOUSE SPA AND HOTEL

Cascade

Cascade Wellness and Lifestyle Resort, Portugal

The ethos at this spa in Portugal is that ‘true beauty comes from within’, which we couldn’t agree with more, and on that basis, this is a pretty perfect place to relax, unwind and think very happy thoughts.  The overall experience is about body, psychological wellbeing and spiritual health, something that the beautiful location as well as the luxurious Babor spa treatments can absolutely help with!

VISIT CASCADE WELLNESS AND LIFESTYLE RESORT

Grand Resort Lagonissi

Grand Resort Lagonissi, Athens

It’s not that this is a health spa persay, it’s just that you really can’t help but feel your very best after a little time here.  On a 72 acre peninsular with 20 sandy beaches to explore, accommodation comes in a variety of waterfront bungalows with their own pools.  The spa is all about decadent treatments using the Chenot product line and there’s a wealth of sports activities available as well including waterskiing, tennis and sailing… how’s that for feel good factor?

VISIT GRAND RESORT LAGONISSI

Castlemartyre Resort

Castlemartyr Resort, Ireland

Again, not a health spa specifically, but somewhere to feel fantastic, this 17th century manor sits beside the ruins of an 800-year old castle, and is a five star hotel that fuses classic design and contemporary style.  While the hotel is all about historic details, the spa is run by ESPA and is ultra modern.  It looks out onto spectacular gardens from what is essentially a glass cube and has that wonderful way of making you feel expensive, relaxed and content with the world.
