A really lovely spa product brand founded in 1964 by Carmel Vidal, a beauty therapist who started the whole thing in her own kitchen. It’s all about using technology and ethically sourced plants, vitamins and minerals.
A treatment using clay, oils and herbs to exfoliate the body. Gommage is a cream, gel or paste that’s allowed to dry like a face mask before being removed with a gentle rubbing motion to roll it off the skin and remove the outermost dead skin cells – it comes from the French word for ‘to erase’ – in case you were wondering.
We’re not talking about the colour, we’re talking about being environmentally friendly, and there are some spas out there that are particularly good at it – think recycling, biodegradable products, ethically sourced and manufactured products and a general commitment to caring for the environment and limiting pollution.
Have you noticed how it’s always the green stuff that’s good for you? Well green tea is one of those things. All part of that happy, healthy detox, green tea is from the same shrub as black tea but it’s picked earlier and is believed to possess lots of antioxidants and things. It still contains caffeine, so perhaps don’t drink it late at night and it’s said to be good for helping to reduce the risks of cancer and cardiovascular disease. Whatever you do, don’t add milk, it won’t taste good.
Another awesome skincare brand. Also French (because they’re good at this sort of thing), Guinot was founded in 1963 by chemical engineer Rene Guinot. These days their Guinot paris product line is popular around the world, targeted at three categories, face, body and sun.
