Dolce CampoReal

We all think of summer as coming to an end when August draws to a close, but the quiet, calm balmy warmth of September can bring some of the most beautiful days of the year.  As everyone else heads back to school, now is the time for peace, quiet, pampering and time that’s really and truly just for you.  Here are five solo spa breaks for late summer sun…

Dolce 1

Dolce CampoReal, Portugal

Portugal in September is positively dream like.  The temperatures are blissful, but there are significantly fewer tourists around.  At Dolce CampoReal, with its vineyard views and 700 square metre spa, it’s about serious chill out time. Lounge around in the outdoor swimming pools, indulge in a Decleor spa treatment or two, play golf on the 18-hole course, or potter along to Lisbon for some shopping and a day out.

They’re offering a beautiful three-night solo break including three nights’ accommodation in a Deluxe room, a buffet breakfast served in the Manjapao restaurant, access to the spa facilities and use of the dry sauna, eucalyptus steam room and Jacuzzi.

La Manga

La Manga Club, Spain

Much like Portugal, Spain is a delight in September, particularly at La Manga Club, a five-star resort on the sunny south-eastern Costa Cálida.  Modern villas and apartments enjoy views across the golf course and Mediterranean Sea, and while the spa offers beautiful treatments and facilities, the grounds are also a playground for golf, tennis, squash, cricket, football, rugby, crazy golf, road and mountain biking, jogging and walking routes.

They offer an Essential Solo Spa break for three nights including accommodation in a Panoramic room, a buffet breakfast served in Deli Cafe at Las Lomas Village, an Essential spa day including a Revitalising Body Massage (45-minutes) and an Essential Facial (30-minutes). Plus use of the spa facilities including use of the indoor and outdoor pools, sauna, steam room, Jacuzzi and fitness centre.

Melia Bragna

Melia Braga, Portugal

Super slick and contemporary, Melia Braga is just a few minutes from Bragna city centre, so its ideal for exploring the area and heading out to the shops, sites and restaurants.  Meanwhile, El Spa answers all those mind, body and soul needs with a spa with an indoor pool, a water circuit, sauna, Jacuzzi, Turkish bath, seven treatment rooms, and a fully equipped gym.

They also offer a three-night solo break including a signature massage (60 minutes) and three entries to the health club.

La Cala

La Cala Hotel Spa and Golf Resort, Spain

On the Costa del Sol, La Cala is surrounded by golf courses and the Sierra de Mijas mountains – perfect for walking and cycling.  It has an excellent spa, featuring a thermal suite featuring hydrotherapy pools, a hammam, herbal steam room, sauna, experience showers, Kneipp foot baths, a tepidarium, and a relaxation room.

They also offer a beautiful solo spa break.  This includes a buffet breakfast served in the La Terraza restaurant, two spa experiences including use of hydrotherapy suite.

Barcelo

Barceló Montecastillo Golf, Spain

An elegant five-star hotel in Cadiz, it is a convenient 16 minutes from Jerez Airport.  Spacious, modern and surrounded by a golf course, Barceló Montecastillo Golf is a contemporary hotel that’s spacious and light.  U-Spa has been recently renovated and is delightfully indulgent with treatments taking influence from the Far East.

Beyond that, extra-curricular activities include tennis, go-karting, racing lessons, water sports and horse riding. All things to consider on their three-night solo break including three nights’ accommodation in a superior room with a buffet breakfast, a relaxing full body massage (55-minutes), and three days’ use of the spa facilities.
