After what felt like an extremely long wait, the warmer weather arrived this summer, and I think we are all hoping that it hangs around a little longer. This is the time where holidays have been had and the suntan lotion has made a few appearances. So this is my favourite time of year to let a bit of warmth and fresh air get to my skin.
On those exceedingly hot days I feel it’s acceptable for me to wear nothing but moisturizer on my face without being judged. I still wear make-up, but I definitely wear it in moderation compared to other times of the year.
I want to share my holy grail beauty products for this time of year. I think it’s super important to take care of your skin, no matter what the weather, so I hope you find it useful.
After having an initial splurge over on the M.A.C Cosmetics website, I managed to get this little guy sent out to me free of charge as part of my order. You can purchase full size versions, but my little sample has lasted me well over 15 uses and I have received more samples since the first, so I haven’t had to dip into my own pocket yet!
The consistency is a gel, which feels like talcum powder on the skin. As soon as it is applied, my face feels airbrushed and matte. It is by far my most trusted primer. My make-up stays in place for hours on end with minimal creasing. The Prep + Prime has definitely made it to my all time favourites.
This is one of my most used products and it has been a favourite since my first purchase at the beginning of this year. I like to think of it as a partner in crime to the Skin Base Visage.
To fully see the benefits, I like to use them both together for a long lasting face of make-up throughout the day. This foundation does not move, separate or crease like other foundations do in warm conditions. That’s why it’s the perfect partner for a summer make-up look.
I’ve also found that you don’t need as much as you may think. It’s not thick, but it’s very pigmented with medium to full coverage depending on how much you use. It’s definitely build-able and it dries matte fairly quickly. I couldn’t imagine not having this in my beauty box.
Studio Fix Fluid Foundation: £22.00
Three words… BEST MASCARA EVER!! I’ve tried and tested a fair number of mascaras in my time, always looking for the ones like you see on the TV. We all know those adverts are exaggerated and most of the models are wearing falsies, as pretty as they look, that is not the work of a mascara alone!
I’d heard great things about the Baby Doll Mascara and for a long time I was put off by the price tag. I managed to land myself a deal with 15% off via Feelunique.com and it made me feel a little better about spending that much on a mascara. I think it is one of the best purchases that my make-up collection has ever seen!
It actually does separate and define every single lash without clumping and makes my lashes look super long and filled out! I don’t have to faff about with any other products, that’s me done.
Baby Doll Mascara: £20.00
I’ve found my Holy Grail of eye shadow palettes. If I was a palette, this is what I would look like. I have fallen in love with everything about it. I love my neutral warm tones and cool tones to shake up the mix. It also has a few splashes of colour, but mainly stays natural.
These tones are very flattering on my skin tone. I can keep it simple with an everyday make-up look, or I can take some of the deeper shades for a more dramatic look.
There is also just the right amount of texture to work with, including pigmented shimmers and iconic mattes. I would highly recommend this beautiful palette, it’s 100% a make-up staple!
35K Koffee Eye Shadow Palette: £19.50
The first thing that struck me about the Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks was the beautiful shades available. There was just something very feminine and intriguing about them. One of the shades in particular is a bit of a legend among the Hydra Mattes and I knew that I needed to get my hands on it ASAP.
I started out with Iced Mocha, a gorgeous brown which has a chocolate scent. I am absolutely obsessed with it. I think I wore it a little more than was acceptable during the warmer months, but as soon as the weather begins to cool down, I’m going straight back to my beloved Mocha.
The formula of this little guy is amazing, it doesn’t flake or peel or appear patchy like some matte lip products do. Even after hours and many snacks , I have found that I rarely need to do anything to my lips. They are so pigmented and last amazingly well! I can’t believe how affordable this is. Every single shade that I have tried has been consistent!
Hydra Matte Liquid Lipsticks: £10.50
As much as I love trying out new products, sometimes it’s nice to have one palette that I can rely on to do the job.
This product from Anastasia Beverly Hills isn’t the cheapest, but I figured it would be worth the investment, as it would be getting so much use. I was definintely right there! You’ve got all you could ever want in a contouring palette; three gorgeous shades to contour and define and then another two to enhance. My favourite of the bunch is the highlight.
When using this palette, I don’t feel the need to reach for anything else. I can’t imagine my make-up routine without it. It stays on for hours on end and I can go out feeling confident that my make-up will be looking just as good when I arrive home at the end of the day.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit: £39.00
Brows brows brows! One of the latest obsessions in the world of beauty gurus and everything make-up! Well defined brows are up there with contouring and baking.
When I was a newbie to the make-up your brows scene I was a bit sceptical about doing anything dramatic. I sway more towards natural make-up looks, so I’m not a big fan of anything that looks false or OTT. I managed to pluck up the courage and fill in my brows and it has made a difference to the overall appearance of my face when my make-up is finished.
I feel that it helps to frame my face with well defined brows. Since this discovery I haven’t gone back to the naked brow, so it had to make the favourites list. For definition, I use the Brow Definer in Medium Brown by ABH Cosmetics.
Brow Pencil : £7.00
