When Spabreaks.com Product Manager Danielle visited The Lowry Hotel to try their signature QMS Lift & Hydrate facial she wasn’t prepared for the level of wow-factor they were about to deliver.

New to Spabreaks.com, The Lowry Hotel in Manchester uses a groundbreaking new technique in their QMS Skin Spa treatments. The idea was created by Dr. med. Erich Schulte, one of Europe’s leading skincare experts. He recognised the regenerative properties of collagen and oxygen when working with burns victims in the 1970s.

Dr. med. Erich Schulte recognised that you could use collagen in a totally different way, breaking down the large molecules to really reach the relevant areas of the skin. So, what does that mean when you arrive for your mid week facial treat?

When Danielle arrived, she had a thorough chat with her therapist about the facial, her skin type, what it involved and what she wanted to achieve. After all, the main thing about this facial is that it’s results driven.

It starts like a regular facial

In essence, it all seems like a regular facial to start with. You put on an exfoliation mask, and the therapist asks you to let her know when it starts to tingle. “Trust me, you really know when it’s tingling,” said Danielle. Then the mask is taken off to remove the dead skin, and a cooling gel is applied.

After that a clay/mud is applied, and within two minutes it sets on your face. “I’m not sure what I was expecting,” says Danielle, “but it came off like a full Mrs Doubtfire style mask, and when my therapist looked at it, she could tell all about my skin. She even knew I had picked a spot that day, which was kind of embarrassing!”

The key is in the collagen

The collagen is then applied to your face to firm the skin, and they use an oxygen machine (“which basically feels like air blowing onto your face, it tickles”) to help the skin absorb the collagen. The facial then finishes with an application of moisturiser.

“It’s probably the best results driven facial I have ever experienced,” enthuses Danielle. “The next day my skin was the best it’s ever been. People kept telling me how I was glowing and I was taking selfies all over the place!”

You need to see it to believe it

This is the really unique thing about the spa at The Lowry Hotel, it’s all about the treatments. They all use the same principles, and are ultra results driven, although you do have to be over 25 to try them. As the glowing Danielle says: “you really need to experience it to understand.”
