Why a spa break's more than a luxury: spa health benefits

How to spa in Switzerland

On the edge of Lake Geneva in Switzerland, La Reserve Geneve Hotel Spa and Villas is about beautiful views and a unique atmosphere, but most of all, it’s about the unique approach of the Nescens Spa.

The Nescens Spa draws on the scientific and medical expertise of the Nescens brand, stemming from the Center for the Prevention of Aging at the Clinique de Genolier (Switzerland) created over 15 years ago by Professor Proust, a pioneer of the realm of the biology of aging and anti-aging medicine.

It’s not about prescriptive treatments

The team at La Reserve Geneve really focus on the health of the guests, and on the prevention of poor health wherever possible.

Our life expectancy is constantly increasing and we all want to maintain our appearance as long as possible, along with our general fitness and our youthfulness. Because a long life is great, provided one can continue living the life one loves.

Guests choose the duration of their stay, and the spa  tailors it to them.  Personalised programs are in line with clients’ needs and wishes.

The process

When guests arrive, there is a session with the doctor responsible for the program organised. This stage makes it possible to personalise the program in order to effectively adjust the imbalances that are contributing factors to premature aging as well as making recommendations for implementing an effective preventive anti-ageing treatment.  The main goal is anti-ageing and showing guests how to age well while preserving their health and youthfulness.

Diet with a difference

The restaurant in the spa, the Café Lauren, is in perfect harmony with the peaceful environment and offers better-ageing cuisine in line with all the benefits of the spa treatments and ethos.

Café Lauren offers unique health, sports and detox breakfasts, to tailor your nutrition to your personal requirements.  Importantly however, there’s no sense of feeling deprived or limited at La Reserve Geneve.  It’s perfectly balanced between enjoyment and dietetics; a better-ageing diet that enables sustainable slimming devoid of frustration or simply learning to eat better.

Getting out and about

Whatever you put into your body is only half the experience.  Exercise, fitness, and (when you get the chance), getting out and about are part of enjoying the experience at La Reserve Geneve as well as an important part of achieving long term results.

There are nine fitness coaches at the property and guests all enjoy personal training.  The idea is to have a session that’s appropriate to what you’re used to doing and then advancing it to what you can really do.  It’s heavily focused on education and concepts that you can continue at home, but it’s also about enjoying it as well.

There are group classes including yoga, aqua bike and cardio training, and all the trainers make recommendations.  So you can have a mix of group and individual activities as part of your experience, and you have at least one session per day, then of course there’s the pool to relax in as well.

All about you

Because of the spa’s emphasis on targeted wellbeing, La Reserve Geneve is not only a wonderful place to visit with friends, it’s also the perfect solo spa break because there is so much to focus on yourself, with the addition of the main hotel to explore so it doesn’t just have to be about the spa experience.

There isn’t just one type of guest at La Reserve Geneve.  They have guests for whom it’s all about the spa and within that they have multiple treatments, and they have people who come and spend the day in the spa but want to venture out in the evenings and on some days.  If you’re travelling on your own then it isn’t somewhere you feel lost and you can make the experience what you want.  Sometimes if you’re staying for two weeks then you may just want to get out and shop as well!

Most people tend to stay for a week or so, although they do have a four day break which acts as a good introduction.  For the best start, they recommend a seven day program and from there a lot of guests decide to extend the experience because they love the philosophy.

Method behind the magic

Perhaps the most lovely thing about the experience at La Reserve Geneve, is that it doesn’t begin and end with your time at the spa.  All the teams really want to create a relationship with the guests and that’s something that carries over into the elements you take home with you.  After all, hospitality is part of the main philosophy and essence of La Réserve.
