The Lake Spa Resort sits in grounds covering 30,000 sq metres, surrounded by a private lake on one side and the beach on the other, making full use of its privileged location.
The hotel and spa combine to be part of a five-star resort, complete with a marina and a golf course. Each room has a private balcony with wonderful views over either the gardens, Falésia Beach or the lake.
Inspired by ‘Five Continents, Five Senses’, The Lake Spa Resort’s Spa by Blue and Green is divided into two sections. The Blue Spa is all about hydrotherapy, while the Green Spa is all about treatments inspired by every corner of the globe. Japanese Shiatsu massage and Indian Ayurvedic massage for example are the mere start. From there it’s a journey around the world via pampering. On a wider note, leisure is what the entire place is about, and as such there are three swimming pools, one of which has a sand bottom to it!
With three restaurants to choose from, all of which take influences from the Mediterranean with a bit of a Roman flourish for good measure, you can pick and choose where you eat according to taste. Alongside these restaurants are The Blue Lagoon Pool Bar which serves salads, snacks and drinks from it’s outside setting and the African themed ZanziBar (for those who enjoy a play on words). Worth noting for special occasions however, is the Marenostrum Restaurant, which sits on an anchored floating esplanade in the lake serving fresh fish and seafood.
The particular joy of The Lake Spa Resort is the surrounding landscape. The sea, the sun, the beaches, the gardens and of course the much mentioned lake all set the tone for your holiday. The golf course frames the resort in verdant green, but that said, it’s also just 20 minutes from Faro airport, which of course makes travelling extremely easy. The proximity of Falesia beach is a major plus, particularly if you’re visiting with children as of course there’s no entertainment quite like playing in the sand.
In the centre of Vilamora, The Lake Spa Resort is one of those wonderful places that accommodates a wide variety of guests. If you’re looking for an easy, speedy getaway with your partner then it has everything set up for a restful break. That said, the family friendly resort is also suited to children and parents looking for a getaway. Of course, the Algarve also benefits from a wonderful climate that’s a pleasure to visit quite late into the year, so don’t be afraid to book a little out of the regular season for those who want to avoid the school holidays.
● For those who want an active holiday, there’s plenty to do, so do look into horse riding, tennis, diving and of course, golf.
● It’s not a time to be busy, busy, busy, so make some time when you arrive to wander around the grounds and take it all in.
● When you spend time in the spa really give it due attention and devote some proper time to it, relaxing in the hydrotherapy area and followed up with a decadent treatment.
