Making sure you feel like Cinderella before, during and after those Christmas parties, our very own spa therapist fairy godmother at Royal Marine Hotel & Spa gives her party make-up and skincare tips…
The real secret to keeping your make-up looking perfect throughout a party comes before you’ve even applied the make-up itself. To prepare your skin I would always advise that you exfoliate, removing all the dead skin to give an even texture.
When you moisturise to make sure skin is nicely hydrated, don’t forget to use an eye cream as well. It will help with any niggly bits in those super sensitive areas. Products don’t have to be expensive to work, just make sure they are the right ones for your skin.
Once you have applied your moisturiser, remember to leave it for a little while to settle in before you start applying your make-up. I would suggest you leave it for at least five minutes.
Apply a primer (such as Prep and Prime by MAC) to the skin before you start with the make-up application. It will be key to making sure it all stays in place and doesn’t crease over the course of the evening. It’s also a good way to calm and soothe the skin, blot away excess oil, and even out lines and redness.
If you’re going to have a facial or spa treatment to really give your skin a boost, make sure you have it at least a couple of days before your event to let skin settle, and give the products used by the therapist a little time to work their magic.
