Elemental Herbology featuring in the Metro
If you really want to test out a skincare line, go hell for leather and throw everything you possibly can at your skin - poor diet, lack of sleep, stress, cold weather, and dehydration, as well as the threat of a lingering cold.
Unintentionally, such was the climate for trying out a collection of Elemental Herbology’s skincare products. It all starts with a consultation form unlike any other. More like a character assessment than a skin analysis, the five element consultation form hinges on your favourite seasons, colours, flavours and times of the day as well as physical characteristics such as a propensity for cold feet or dry nails, to ascertain which element you are linked to.
The result is a product selection tailored to you. In my beautifully presented collection I tried out the Cell Nourish Radiance and Vitality Serum (£45), the Vital Cleanse Facial Cleanser (£29), the Facial Souffle Overnight Cream (£47.and the Calendula and Rose Damask Facial Moisturiser (£37), none of which is cheap, but none of which is entirely prohibitive either (and they are generous bottles for what it’s worth).
Something of a hero product for Elemental Herbology, this award-winning serum is a brilliant boost to the skin before moisturising. It helps to boost radiance and vitality, containing a powerhouse of natural proteins, vitamins and antioxidants, so it’s great if you travel a lot or spend time anywhere dehydrating, which at this time of the year really just means anywhere with central heating.
What feels like an oil is a decadent, moisturising facial cleanser that’s brilliant for removing make-up and doesn’t leave your skin feeling dried out - quite the opposite in fact. Containing all natural ingredients, as is Elemental Herbology’s want, it includes Manuka Honey with malic acid, vitamin C, organic sea buckthorn berry oil, apple serum, green tea, grapefruit, mandarin, seaweed and papaya extract to deeply cleanse, stimulate cell turnover and dramatically improve the texture, radiance and vitality of the skin. As someone with dry skin I particularly liked it.
A rich overnight cream that’s perfect for winter, Elemental Herbology’s Facial Souffle helps to replace lost moisture, firms and plumps the skin and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It’s ideal for dry or mature skin, and adhering to the brand belief that you should amend your skincare with the seasons, it’s ideal for colder times of year or for frequent flyers.
Designed to soothe and nurture delicate or sensitive skin, the daily moisturiser aims to reduce the appearance of redness and boosts the skin’s natural barrier to help protect it against the environment. A lightweight moisturiser, it has a fresh scent and doesn’t make the skin feel sticky, it is also quickly absorbed even by my own parched skin. It does benefit from the use of the serum on particularly dry skin however, for that extra boost.
