Harvesting seaweed from the Irish coast in Strandhill, Co. Sligo is a practice that has lasted more than 100 years. It is a place where locals have bathed in the waters since times gone by, inviting guests to partake in its healing properties. When Neil Walton and his family decided to share the experience with the world however, VOYA was born.
“VOYA is as green and organic as it gets…”
Taking all the benefits of the wild Atlantic coast, and distilling them in nourishing skincare products, VOYA is as green and organic as it gets. Certified by the organic standards of both the Irish Organic Farmers and Growers Association and the Organic Soil Association, they are committed to preserving the seabeds using sustainable harvesting practices, products contain as much certified organic ingredients as possible (a minimum of 70%) and they are packaged using recycled, recyclable or biodegradable materials.
Once harvested, they freeze dry the seaweed to retain its nutrients without damaging its natural properties through the use of chemicals, and the initial product simply allowed you to take the seaweed home and add it to your own bath where the hot water releases the plant’s alginate properties to moisturise, detox and help to reduce cellulite.
“The first genuinely organic seaweed-based cosmetic product…”
Today VOYA has added to its collection with herbal teas, massage oils, soaps, and moisturisers, but seaweed is still the essence of them all. It is the first genuinely organic seaweed-based cosmetic product in the world, and has a resounding reputation in spas who attest to its ability to cleanse, purify, improve the suppleness of the skin, and help with conditions including psoriasis, eczema and acne.
