The silent treatment

Sometimes the sound of silence is the most blissful thing we could ask for, so it is a stroke of genius that Ockenden Manor has now fused the healing powers of Elemental Herbology and their Isopod floatation to deliver The Silent Treatment.

silent floating

Designed for overly busy lives, when you simply need a little time out to rebalance, Ockenden Manor’s thoughtful spa team have put together a spa experience to simply let you ‘float’ for a while.

In essence, this all revolves around the floatation Isopod and its huge raft of health benefits that come from simply floating and being silent. The idea of lying in an enclosed tank for an hour or so and going to sleep or at least nodding off a little seems like a strange one, but then if you analysed a lot of spa treatments they do seem quite peculiar.

“It’s a little time where you can simply be silent”

However, the benefits of total relaxation of the mind, body and nervous system mean that the experience does offer guests a unique level of tranquility as saltwater suspends the body effortlessly for total muscle easing.

Of course you could go into all sorts of psycho analytical considerations about the benefits of the Isopod floatation tank – it’s almost womb like in its familiarity for one, and it’s a bit like actually sinking into a waterbed in terms of its comfort.

“It provides tension release in places you didn’t know you were carrying tension”

However, it’s also got some serious practical elements that support wellbeing – it’s enforced time away from screens and all things digital which is good for mind, body and soul, and it also provides tension release in places you didn’t know you were carrying tension as your entire body is supported in the water.

Reportedly, guests find that the after effects of the floatation tank allow you to get a really good night’s sleep thereafter (maybe opt to have it in the afternoon in that case), but crucially it’s a little time where you can simply be silent and reap the benefits that something so simple can bring.
