Six reasons to take your hen party or stag do overseas

The stag do or the hen party is no longer a humble evening in the local pub; they seem to be getting bigger and flashier by the minute. However, at their core, they’re about giving the bride or groom quality time with some of their best friends.

Throw in a new culture, perhaps sunnier weather, feel good factor, and turn one evening into a few days, and here are just a few reasons to take your hen party or stag do overseas…

Budget is always an issue on a hen party or stag do, especially if it involves a lot of people, and for this reason overseas trips often seem prohibitive, but they don’t have to cost the earth. That said, if you do take an overseas hen party to be an opportunity to spend a little more, the amount you get for your money is likely to go a lot further.

While an overpriced night out in a UK city could cost an unlimited amount, you can experience an all-singing, all-dancing spa day complete with lunch, Prosecco, cocktails and spa treatments under the Portuguese sun for as little as £77.50 per person!

1. Beach

How often do you get the chance to have a mini break with friends, lounging on the beach, topping up your tan (responsibly obviously), and enjoying the general therapeutic properties of time out in a different environment? A spa break by the beach should do it.

2. Yoga

Hen parties and stag dos don’t have to be all boozy bars and hilarious inflatables. What if, instead, they were an opportunity to feel your best with people you most like spending time with?

3. Group activities

If you go away on a spa break that’s specifically designed for group getaways, hen parties and stag dos, it’s a chance to have all the activities that you want to take part in together under one roof, and one payment, making it easier to organise in all respects.

For example, at Hotel Tivoli Carvoeiro 5* in Portugal, a spa day includes cocktail making classes, while at other locations you may choose to take part in water sports, for example.

4. Individual activities

That said, the nature of having lots of people in one place is that not everyone will necessarily enjoy the same things. Often, hen parties and stag dos include a number of people from different stages of the bride and groom’s lives, who don’t necessarily have the same interests.

While it might all be about the man or woman of the moment, ultimately, we want everyone to have a wonderful time, so the option to do a few different things in smaller group subsections means that everyone can enjoy themselves, whether that’s playing tennis, doing water sports or simply lounging on the beach.

5. The food

Nothing really beats the food on holiday. As a personal favourite, we like the kind of lunchtime buffet you get in Mediterranean climes – antipasti, lots of bread and a good glass of wine in the summer sun. Either way, an overseas break is a chance to add another foodie dimension to a hen party or stay do.

6. The culture

Experiencing a different culture, whether you’re travelling to Spain, Portugal, Italy or Iceland, is one of the great joys of any holiday. For then hen or stag who loves travel, what could be lovelier than giving them a cultural experience to remember along with their best friends?

7. Time

Hen party

The nature of going overseas generally means that you will be looking at a slightly longer break than if you were staying in the UK, which ultimately leaves you open to the crux of a really good hen party or stag do, which is of course quality time together – even if it is dressed up in vibrant costumes and L plates.
