Tess is a qualified nutritional therapist who is committed to showing people how they can reach optimal health and wellbeing with the use of real food. Her passion for nutrition was ignited whilst battling her own ill health in the form of exhaustion with weight gain, an auto-mmune condition and hormonal imbalance.
Having turned her own health around, she decided to leave a very stressful career in the finance industry, and embarked on three years of studies at the Institute for Optimum Nutrition.
Tess is trained in the principles of functional medicine, whereby every individual is considered unique, and root causes of symptoms and disease are sought instead of just treating the symptoms. She has a particular interest in digestive health, weight management, female health, autoimmune conditions, food intolerances and stress management, however she is also well versed in many other health concerns.
She is a part-time lecturer at the College of Naturopathic Medicine and is also a qualified Massage Therapist, as well as a Reiki practitioner. She believes, and practices, the importance of looking after the body as well as the mind and soul.
She has been a keen sportsperson for many years, keeping her own fitness and health at peak levels. She is extremely knowledgeable in the fields of health, nutrition, lifestyle and exercise and she aims to provide successful solutions to her client’s health concerns.
She is a full member of the British Association for Applied Nutrition & Nutritional Therapy (BANT) and registered with the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC).
Neil’s formal training started at the London Studio Centre where he received a diploma in performing arts.
He has been teaching for many years in the fitness industry and draws on his training as a dancer and choreographer, where he has worked professionally for 15 years in various theatrical and TV productions including: Cats, Chicago, My Fair Lady, Oklahoma and Fame, as well as working with pop artists such as East 17, Take That and Boyzone. He has taught fitness and dance all over the world to a diverse range of clients including celebrities and sports professionals.
As co-director of the Body Technology Pilates Studio London, he incorporated his experience of dance and personal training into structuring pilates sessions based around functional movement, incorporating Dance, Pilates, and more purposeful Personal Training. The ethos was to practice movement that would be used on a day to day basis, rather than movement that would solely be useful in the gym with equipment. This is where he first met Elizabeth Sharp, who was attending the Polestar course at his studio.
A keen advocate on integrating cardio, strength, flexibility and balance into training, Neil’s insights into pilates and personal training has seen him developing innovative programmes as the education director for Torq-King Functional Fitness. Previously employed as the Senior Personal Trainer at the Chelsea Club, he introduced a dedicated Pilates studio to the club along with a Torq-King Studio class.
Neil did his Pilates training with Polestar and Personal Training with YMCA. He is a strong believer in marrying the disciplines from Pilates and Personal training together, stating: ‘One cannot and should not work without the other!’
Born in France, and becoming a Doctor in Medicine at the Faulte de Medicine de Paris, Dr Veronique Ryan started in conventional medicine, Véronique found herself fascinated by the subtler principles of health.
She undertook the rigorous study of various healing modalities, including Reiki. Incorporating her own mindfulness and meditation practice with her vision to support happier communities, Véronique founded Mindful Family in 2013. She absolutely loves sharing her passion for a holistic approach to life and wellbeing.
She says: “The Western medicine tradition has understood for a long time, the role of mind over body (as demonstrated by placebo effect studies) and knows its influence on a number of complex and chronic ailments, such as asthma or autoimmune diseases. However, it often overlooks long term healing and fails to fully restore the body to a state of ease and well-being.”
This observation encouraged her to practice mindfulness and meditation, study various spiritual teachings and explore a number of alternative therapies. She discovered the tremendous power of energy and sound healing, as well as the innate wisdom of the body to heal itself on all levels.
Sophie’s classes create freedom in the body and mind, allowing each individual to soften and
experience expansive stillness.
She brings extensive anatomical knowledge and a bio-mechanical understanding of alignment to her instruction, allowing each student to open in ways they didn’t think they could. Fluid, dynamic sequencing is balanced with restorative postures, as students are encouraged to move with full breath and uplifting intention.
Whilst challenging her students to re-awaken their muscles and work tenaciously, she also supports them in cultivating deep physical awareness with an underlying emphasis on self-care and the therapeutic benefit of each pose.
Sophie completed her Hatha and Vinyasa 200-hour training in Nicaragua and has been dedicated to teaching since. She is also trained to teach Yoga Nidra, Restorative Yoga, Antenatal and Postnatal Yoga and specialises in Yoga for Trauma and Stress. Sophie is also a gifted Reflexologist, specialising in Antenatal and Postnatal Reflexology, Meditation Teacher and healer.
