In partnership with the University of Derby, the LCBT will give students access to the university’s International Spa Management Foundation degree, from September 2018.
Designed to give students a thorough understanding of the spa environment and the spa industry from a business perspective as well, the course will equip students with the knowledge, skills and practical skills required to work in managerial positions across the spa industry.
Students learn not only about treatments and therapies, but also about how to manage people, business strategy, marketing and communications, sales and promotions and research skills.
Isobel Stockdale, deputy head of Hotel, Resort and Spa Management at the University of Derby, said: “This is an exciting partnership for the University of Derby that will provide excellent opportunities to students.”
Abi Wright, Managing Director of Spabreaks.com commented: “The spa industry often struggles to be seen as a legitimate business around the world, but as we have seen demand rise consistently over the last 10 years, the need to acknowledge it as a commanding and nuanced sector in its own right has become increasingly apparent. Clients are significantly more aware of what they want from their health and wellbeing, and it is our duty within the industry to make sure that our therapists, on the front line, are educated and informed to the highest standards of all elements of it. For this reason, I am extremely excited to hear about this latest initiative from LCBT and the University of Derby.”
