Medispas are defined as properties that blend medicine and aesthetics to provide quality cosmetic treatments in a relaxed ambience. Many provide anti-wrinkle injections, acne therapy, and fillers, while some also provide doctor-led wellness retreats.
Last year, the facial treatment segment (the alternative to plastic surgery or Botox) accounted for one-third share of the global market revenue of the sector, which was valued at $11,063m (£8,399m) in 2017, while hair removal accounted for one-sixth share in 2017 of the global market revenue, and tattoo removal segment accounted for about one-seventh. Meanwhile, body sculpting accounted for one-fifth revenue share of the global market in 2017.
That said, the expensive price points of medispa treatments limits market growth on a global scale, although growing medical tourism has created some further opportunities in the market for major players overseas.
