Why it works: Clarins at Hotel Molitor Paris

Hotel Molitor Paris’ 1930s roots are echoed in the design details such as its iconic Art Deco pool, but it is also famed as the home of Clarins. So naturally only one brand will do when it comes to their spa treatments. Here’s why Clarins works for them, and their clients…

Clarins Hotel Molitor

Tell us about your treatments…

We have a wide variety to choose from, so choosing depends on the customer and their skin type. At the beginning of an appointment we ask the client how their skin feels, what their skincare routine is and what they are looking to achieve – that way we can adapt it appropriately for them.

For example, the Clarins Power Firmer treatment stimulates the skin to restore its elasticity and firmness, and to smooth out wrinkles; the Moisture Quencher is a luxury treatment which rehydrates dry skin to recover vitality and sheen; and the Clear Skin Refiner restores balance to combination and oily skin to leave it clean and refreshed.

All Clarins treatments are done without any machines, just with the hands and expertise of our beauticians.

What is the background of Clarins?

Jacques Courtin started Clarins, a French luxury skincare brand, in 1954 when Mr Courtin made his own treatment oils to firm the skin. Today Clarins is distributed to 150 countries around the world, and while Courtin-Clarins died in 2007, his sons, Christian and Olivier, are now involved in carrying on the family company.

What is it supposed to do?

Clarins works around the benefits of the plants and how to use them while respecting nature.

Is there anything you do to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment?

Yes, at the beginning of a treatment the beautician asks lots of questions. It’s by knowing the client that they adapt the treatment and make suggestions that will best benefit the client and their skin.

Is there anything you recommend clients to do pre or post-treatment to get the most out of it?

There is not much to do before a treatment but it’s always good to drink a lot of water during the day to regenerate the skin, and always remove make-up at the end of the day. These are the two essentials for beautiful skin.

After the treatment it’s always better if you use the Clarins products at home as well. The Clarins skincare routine will maintain the effect of the treatment, and the smells and textures are wonderful, so it’s like having a spa at home!

Is there anyone you particularly recommend the treatment for?

Clarins has thought about every type of skin type, so the treatments are designed to fit the person. It’s the advice of the beauticians at Hotel Molitor Paris that’s important.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t have this treatment and why?

Anyone with really sensitive skin or strong allergies or severe medical conditions should discuss it with us and their doctor before booking.
